Yeah, for sure. I'd started to write the same, didn't find the words, and just wrote "mostly" before "useless" instead.

I personally endorse all of those. I predict Front Mission 5, King's Field IV, and Digital Devil Saga 1 will all be big hits for you. You'll probably find Parasite Eve II to be better than you remembered. Phantasy Star 1 & 2 are still great, but with PS2 if you use some kind of patch to help with the grind I wouldn't blame you. If I were to be playing through Castlevania 2 for the first time, I'd use this hack. I'm going to tab that CV2 link then. Funny enough, I have some other similar tabs... So those are kind of on my docket too.
I should finally play another AC this year too. Might be the original while I'm in this PSX mode. Though I'm pretty interested about the later PS2 entries. I've beaten AC2, AC2: Another Age, AC3, and AC4.
Yes. Maybe hit up Dark Souls II or Bloodborne at the end of this year. Nice. Will be interesting to see what you think of that and the DS version. Dying to see what you and toei make of that one. Nice. ZOE2 is WAY better than the first. Great stuff. But I'm still not super crazy for it like some fans are (and I can definitely fanboy over Kojima when it comes to some stuff). I'm out of my gaming mood, but I'm sure it'll come back before too long. These are the games I'd like to play in 2022: Exile 2 (Un-Worked) (Turbo CD) Tenchu 2 (PSX) Onimusha (PS2) Way of the Samurai 2 (PS2) Silent Hill 3 (PS2) Yakuza 3 (via PS4 remaster) Dragon Quest XI (PS4) Those are the main ones. I'll add either Brave Prove or FF8 for next month, maybe Metal Gear Solid later, and the first PSP Yakuza if the new translation comes out this year. Looks cool. Need to play those. Had a blast with the remaster, but it just had a few QOL changes and a new OST (neutral on which is better). Not missing much by playing the PS2 original. I agree the Xbox version stinks, I didn't finish it. Like the early RE's, this game is pretty short and fun for the most part. Nice. Wonder what you'll think of SH3. Mechanically and art direction wise, I think it's incredible and Heather is cool. Story wise it's probably my least favorite of the Team Silent four though. Yakuza 3 was weirdly my first one... what a goofy entry point. It has like a near 10 hour arc in the beginning with the orphanage and stuff. It's SLOW. But as you've played them in order, it might work out better for you. I'm glad I stuck with it and am a huge fan now. Just need to beat 5 myself.

I absolutely recommend using that CV2 hack. It's entirely possible to actually finish with the hints that it gives you, compared to a few of them being butchered in the US release. (Actually, I really think it's just one that ends up being a big holdup.)

Xeogred>I should finally play another AC this year too. Might be the original while I'm in this PSX mode. I have finished, and greatly enjoyed, the three AC games on PS1. I wish I could have played them via DuckStation. But yeah, recommend those for sure. >Though I'm pretty interested about the later PS2 entries. There's quite a lot on PS2, it's daunting, but promising. >ZOE2 is WAY better than the first I beat the first ZOE back in 2007. I thought it was "OK". You know you're playing a Kojima game when the mech cockpit is right in the crotch.

I am still playing 90's PC games this year. In 2022 I want to: - Finish Final Fantasy VII on my Windows 98 PC. I guesstimate I'm already 60% of the way there. - Finish Time Commando. I'm like 50% through it already but got sidetracked playing other stuff. - Finish Richard Scarry's Busytown. I guess I got 30% through it 2021. This is a silly piece of software for children, but I was the target age for it when it came out and have pleasant memories of playing it. So, I wanted to re-experience it as a grown-up. - Play Toy Story Activity Center. I haven't made any progress at all so far, but I used to see it advertised on the Toy Story VHS tape in 1995. That ad used to make me really want to play it. - Play around with Broderbund Home Architect and upload a video of it. Decades ago this software was the closest thing I had to Minecraft, so I regard it with a great deal of personal significance. Also, I wasn't able to find any videos of it on YouTube when I searched. So, it needs to be uploaded for preservation and posterity. - Finish the Orc campaign of Warcraft II's Beyond the Dark Portal Expansion. This will bring me up to 100% completion for all the WC2 content in my possession. I expect this to take quite a while as the human campaign from the same expansion took me almost two and a half months. - Play Mechwarrior 3. I loved Mechwarrior 2 to pieces and want to experience more of the series. - Play Chasm, a "monsters in a castle" FPS which Ex pointed out to me. - Play Sim City and upload my city into Sim Copter, which supposedly has some kind of cross-compatibility where you can fly in a chopper and catch criminals inside cities of your creation. If I do anything else I'll just make it up on the spot. But this is my overall 2022 gaming roadmap.

anayoThat's quite a diverse lineup. Of all those, the one I most ardently advocate for is MechWarrior 3. I loved that game... and someday I gotta do its expansion pack Pirate's Moon. I do remember when Time Commando released, it was promoted well, even got a PS1 and Saturn port. Not sure how well it's aged, but definitely a sample of the zeitgeist of which it was wrought.

Final Fantasy VIII (PSX) - done Exile 2 (Un-Worked) (Turbo CD) - done Tenchu 2 (PSX) Onimusha (PS2) Way of the Samurai 2 (PS2) Silent Hill 3 (PS2) Yakuza 3 (via PS4 remaster) Another turn-based RPG - either Tenshi no Uta (SNES), Glory of Heracles IV (SNES) or Dragon Quest XI S Definitive Edition (PS4) ? ? And I'm saving the last two slots for new fan translations (eg. Planet Laika, Wachenroder, or Yakuza: Black Panther if it comes out this year) or anything that suddenly strikes my fancy. I might also play a retro action game here and there, but I'm not worried about those. If I can do these 10, I'm satisfied.

1. Play another Front Mission 2. Play SMT Digital Devil Saga I-II
3. Play Tomb Raider III 4. Play King's Field IV 5. Replay FF6 6. Maybe play another Phantasy Star 7. Castlevania 2? 8. Play Power Slave PSX and PC 9. Play Parasite Eve II
Planning to play Dragon Quest XI this year too, which loosely counts for me since that series seems like it's still pretty traditional at heart.
I'm still on a major PSX high so take this as a grain of salt for now, but I want to say I envision a big year for PSX-PS2 gaming for me. Especially now that I'm emulating these eras more thesedays.
Guess I'll update mine.
1. Gave FM2 a look and it wasn't a good experience with the unfinished fan translation. But the power of HRG made Square decide to remaster FM1 and FM2 down the road. So that's excellent. Maybe I'll try to play FM5 later this year though. 2. Beat Parasite Eve II. Great stuff. I've only beaten three PSX games this year so far.
