Huh, I played through the Touki Denshou: Angel Eyes port on PS1 (it's an all girls fighter, of course I did). What struck me as most unique about it, is half the characters are prerendered CG and the other half are hand drawn 2D. It's got some really nice cutscene artwork (though it's all in Japanese) and you can unlock a sketch art gallery that's nice. I guess with the whole CG/2D hybrid aspect, Hamster was trying to cover all their bases. As prerendered CG art was vogue at the time (see Killer Instinct), but didn't want to turn off 2D pixel purists either.

Oh wow that is strange. Explains why some of the screenshots on the Nintendo website look so odd.

Yeah, a few more examples:
The game's art style is quite the dichotomy.

Another Namco game. Another shmup. This one actually had a localized TG16 port back in the day; I don't think I knew that.

I have seen Ordyne as I've scrolled through the list of ROMs on my Turbo EverDrive, but I don't remember if I ever booted it, haha.

So, this was supposed to come out last week but was delayed for some reason. So we may get a game tomorrow too? Anyway, this is by Nichibutsu and I've never heard of it. Apparently it's an action game where you make constellations(!). I'm guessing this isn't the most stellar game out there. At the same time I like seeing this type of thing on the Archives as it had no ports and wasn't on any compilations that I know of.

Looks like I was right. The Arcade Archives got off schedule somehow and now they've released games two days in a row. I played this ages ago on a Namco compilation and I recall it being kinda like Dragon Buster but much better. Not sure why I never put much effort into it; I just watched some of a YouTube longplay and it looks cool as hell.

BaRaDuke also appeared on Video Game Anthology vol.13: Baraduke for Sharp X68000 back in 1995. That was the only home port until Arcade Archives brought it back from obscurity.

1991 Taito shmup that I must have played at some point via Taito Legends 2. Looks like there was a Japanese Saturn port too, in 1996.

I always see that game title name dropped around shmup circles. Must be good.
