This is IGT, real time I've spent 3 hours on the first two levels so far. Only two levels in TR2 took me over an hour IGT.
I don't want all the levels to be enormous and thankfully looking at some YT vids, they should be varied in length here and there. But there's going to be a few more big ones...
TR levels feel like Thief levels. They can definitely take a lot out of you and be pretty dense. Phew.

I'll mention that I was appalled by the TR controls even as a kid. Rightfully so, but I'm sure it's easy enough to get used to them. The first time I played KF controls I was all WTF, but then it became second nature soon enough. These are the TRs I've beaten so far and what platform I beat them on:Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light PC Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris PC Tomb Raider: Legend PC Tomb Raider (2013 reboot) Xbox 360 I also put a fair amount of time into Tomb Raider: Underworld on Xbox 360, but I hated it and dumped it. TR levels feel like Thief levels. Now that sounds fun.

Yeah that's an average (quality) sampling of TR, hah. Legend isn't terrible but it sure is short and generic. Guardian of the Light was a few dollars on a sale recently but it looks like more of a multiplayer thing?
I didn't have Underworld listed in my rated list on the last page from that old post, so I edited it in. 3/10 for that booger. I'm not even going to bother finding my ranting post or two about when I beat it, it was one of the buggiest games ever and so terribly designed in spots. I noted in my Anniversary review, it's shocking that that game exists in between Legend and Underworld. Like if the middle era of Tomb Raider had an A team and C team, Anniversary is the only one the A team did. It completely blows those out of the water.
So... safe to say it's scary that Angel of Darkness could be even worse than Underworld. Now I don't have to force myself to beat it... but I'm getting close to that stubborn silliness with myself in being able to say "Hey I beat all the main Tomb Raider games" lol.

looks like more of a multiplayer thing? I beat the Lara Croft games because they support local co-op, beat both with my wife years ago. Not something I'd bother with single player, but co-op was good. >shocking that that game exists in between Legend and Underworld 2006 Legend Designers = Riley Cooper, Doug Church, Director = Toby Gard 2007 Anniversary Designers = Riley Cooper, Jason Botta, Director = Jason Botta 2008 Underworld Designers = Harley White-Wiedow, Director = Eric Lindstrom So we see that Legend and Anniversary shared some key personnel, but Underworld had different staff. I think we have our answer. >Hey I beat all the main Tomb Raider games Yeah according to Wikipedia, The Angel of Darkness is considered a mainline entry. I don't envy your task. BTW there are some other 5th gen TR games you can play: I recall these got decent reviews back in the day, surprisingly enough.

Ex I dropped b.l.u.e. early on because I could tell from the first 30 minutes it was going to be all puzzles. I like *some puzzles*, but *all puzzles* is not the game balance for me.

but *all puzzles* is not the game balance for me Yeah it's really an adventure game at heart, which tends to be a genre with *all puzzles* games. The swimming around underwater stuff is just window dressing ultimately.

Hah, funny enough I was thinking I should give those weird GBC Metal Gear and Resident Evil games a look these months. Didn't know Tomb Raider got some as well.

I don't mind how the 3D games don't have a lot of BGM (there's a lot of ambiance), but here... that's just awkward.

I have those GBC Tomb Raider games. They're supposed to be pretty solid, if awkward to control... so not much different from the main series.
Metal Gear Solid on GBC (aka Ghost Babel) is fantastic. Definitely recommended.
