Yeah I don't get this at all either, other than maybe the need to prove that you can do something most people either couldn't or wouldn't want to put themselves through. I usually take breaks every 2-3 hours. The idea of playing any game, as good as it may be, for 24 hours in a row with no breaks sound awful, let alone 90 hours.

This is simply a job for some people.
From a streaming standpoint I find RPG speedrunning kind of fascinating. The process of "routing" one seems like it would be pretty complex. And if you have a game that hits around 8-10 hours for a run, that's your work day right there haha. But yes, I've seen plenty of speedrunners or streamers in general get "married" to a certain game or series that reels in their initial fans and then they can't escape or branch out. Grinding at a single game or two for months/years on end. But again, people are different, and a lot of these kind of speedrunners play literally nothing else.
Agreed on one point though, I've certainly had my all day binges with games throughout life, but still fit in those meals and breaks, etc, nor can I think of a single time I've stayed up all night grinding something. Had the all nighters with friends growing up like most I'm sure, but yeah solo sitting on my butt playing a game for more than a day, can't think of a time that's ever happened.

I'm good with 1-3 hours per video game session in a given day. Longer than 3 hours, and I start to feel like I'm being irresponsible and neglecting having an actual life. The process of "routing" one seems like it would be pretty complex. From an intellectual standpoint, I agree it's interesting how people glitch and exploit games, to beat said games far faster than they were actually meant to be beaten.

This is simply a job for some people. I know, but I'd never work at my job for 90 hours in a row, either

True haha. I think speedrunners love setting records though. They'll get a lot of subs/donations with events like this. But yeah, marathons are one thing, ~90 hours is a bit EXTREME.
This dude is basically battling his own former record I'm sure too. I don't know of anyone else that's done or even attempted this.

That's a hard "nope" from me. I've put in some long gaming sessions, but usually average around what Ex says. One of my longest is probably around four hours or so, then I have to at least take a break. I've had a few days where I've put in around eight hours throughout the day, though... just not all in one go.

When I was much younger, say 20-23, I would fairly often have long gaming sessions on weekends. Like 5-8 hours in a single day. But that was when I didn't have a life, or any other hobbies besides producing electronic music. Nowadays I can't think of any medium I would saturate myself in for that long in a single day, without getting well tired of it. But back then, I was more than willing to sit in front of my computer and play PC games for hours and hours (and hours).
