Project EGG is still around and I use it. It's the same company that's doing EGG CONSOLE, D4. Never seen anything localized on either one. There are some "games in English" of course, but those were in English in Japan too. Here's their MSX Xak: www.amusement-center.com/project/egg/game/?product_id=234Now, I do remember English MSX Xak being affiliated with something called "woomb.net" but I have no idea what that was.

That's it, it was woomb.net. I could be wrong as I'm going off old memories, but I think woomb.net was an attempt by or related to Project EGG to bring some of those games to English-speaking audiences. Yep - "WOOMB is brought to you by Bazix, in cooperation with D4 Enterprise Japan." Going to Bazix.nl on the wayback machine, you get this: "In cooperation with the Japanese company D4 Enterprise, Bazix arranges the localization of Japanese software to English software, which is to be distributed on WOOMB.net , and the localization of English software to Japanese software that will be distributed on Amusement Center." Amusement Center was where Project EGG was hosted. Bazix was a Dutch company run by three guys, who were staff members or participants at msx.org. "As the official representative of the Japanese company MSX Association, Bazix takes care of all requests related to the trademarks and copyrights of the legendary MSX computer system for the non-Japanese market." And from the FAQ: "Are all games offered on WOOMB in English? -Yes. Although many of the games offered in WOOMB originate from Japan, all games you can obtain on WOOMB are English versions of the games. In some cases the games offered on WOOMB - and their manuals - were translated to English for the very first time." That included Xak. I remember having some interest in a few of their games, but their whole model was weird - looked like you had to get a monthly subscription (which wasn't that cheap!) and the games were played through a launcher... I never bothered.

Something about the bump combat in Xak looks better than Y's 1-2 to my eyes. Maybe I'll give it a look someday.

Having played and beaten the remastered Duke Nukem 1, I am happy to say that the Evercade team did an excellent job. The smooth scrolling and 60fps make the game much more playable and fun. The new soundtrack is quite good. The new UI is a tad too small for the Evercade EXP's screen, but it's not that bad. For better and worse, they didn't update the gameplay, which benefits a lot from the graphical improvements, but also has some clear design flaws, starting with the narrow jump space in most corridors, which make it difficult to avoid enemy hits. However, overall I had a good time and I am excited to try the remastered sequel.

Ever play Legacy of the Wizard? Well the MSX2 version is the next EGG game. This also marks the first EGG on Switch that isn't PC-88. Hope to see some PC-98 and X68000 eventually.

Dunno why these are being released out of order, but EGG is dropping Hydlide II soon. This is a solid game; I have the MSX cart but have never played the PC-88 version.

bonesnapdeez - Which Hydlide games have you finished, and how would you rate them? I've only finished one game in the series, Virtual Hydlide on Saturn. I enjoyed that one quite a lot, so I am interested in other games in the series that are good.

Finished all and enjoyed all. Virtual Hydlide may actually be the best, though it's much different compared to the rest of the series. The first three are very much ancient computer RPGs. Their vibe is more akin to Dragon Slayer and Xanadu than Zelda or Ys. They're slow and clunky and obtuse. May be more fun from a historical perspective than a gameplay perspective. I do enjoy my 8-bit RPGs though.
T&E Soft also had an ARPG trilogy called Rune Worth that is much better than Hydlide but unknown outside Japan. Hopefully EGG rectifies that.

I also enjoyed Super Hydlide, which is the Genesis version of Hydlide III. It is a bit archaic/obtuse in terms of mechanics - you have to take the weight of items into account (too much slows you down), hunger, and fatigue, and if you don't read the manual, you'll never know you're not supposed to attack non-hostile monsters (or as little as possible) because there's a hidden morality meter that affects the final boss fight. The actual adventure isn't overly obtuse though.
