Oh, yeah, it's super duper cheap. Even when it came out, it was something like $4, and that was five years ago. They're not terrible for what they are; no sense going way over spec for an emulation solution. I think it's more that they just make sure the included games work correctly and call it a day. (Which also makes sense from a business perspective, even if it annoys those of us who like to hack them.) www.gsmarena.com/allwinner_a33_is_a_4_chipset_with_quadcore_cortexa7_processor-news-9173.phpI'm still not sure why both the NES Classic and the Genesis Mini have that audio delay. Nintendo clearly showed with the SNES Classic that it could be done and minimize said delay. On there, it's more like 2-3 frames, which is much more acceptable. In fact, I'm pretty sure most PC emulation solutions like SNES9x have that sort of audio lag by default. I'm guessing that's to accommodate audio drivers and make sure you don't get a whole lot of audio popping and distortion from not having enough of a buffer.

Yes PC (and Android) emulators usually have a default high buffer, but I always take it down until I start hearing crackle, then bump it up just enough. I guess audio lag doesn't bother most people, I doubt they even notice to be honest. Control lag is a whole lot more obvious!

Well, I got my Genesis Mini. That box looks so beautiful to me I almost don't want to take it out. It's got that whole Genesis game box grid motif with the black background. I'm just a huge fan of that whole aesthetic.

The model 2 Genesis was and still is one of the slickest downsized remodels, but I really do have a soft spot for the model 1. Even if I didn't own one as a kid, but my dad's side of the family did and was my first exposure to the console. It's cool they went with that shell design for the mini. I don't think I've ever seen a model 3 in person. Looks bad in pics. The CDX is another weird one. Looks kind of cheap? Just like old portable CD players. But yeah in general, I'd say Sega's consoles were usually pretty sexy. The US SNES model 2 on the other hand, maybe it's just the colors but I think that thing looks atrocious. The US model 1 is kind of weird and looks like a Star Fox boss in retrospect, but I still have a soft spot for it.

Even as a big fan of Nintendo, I have to admit the stylings of Sega's stuff from that era were absolutely legit. That Master System grid pattern, in particular, was a reason I spotted my SMS system from clear across the thrift store as I was leaving.

Yeah, I loved Sega's consoles' designs and the black color schemes. The Game Gear also looked slick, even if it was big and bulky. Not a big fan of the Dreamcast's design, though, it's not an ugly console but it's a little boring. I hated how Nintendo picked gray as its color for both the NES and SNES. Gray is literally the dullest color there is. And those weird shiny purple buttons on the SNES... I didn't know there was a Model 2 SNES at all though, that thing is hideous. I don't think it's just the colors, the shape is just weird. I had never bothered to look up what NEC's stillborn Supergrafx looked like. It's the weirdest console I've ever seen: Just a big lump of plastic made to look sort of metallic. It looks like you could hit it with a hammer without damaging it.
