1. Have you ever felt guilty for something you did in a video game?
I know there should be several good examples coming to mind, but with the question putting me on the spot I'm not sure! But I know there's been a few games that really start to make you question your own motives and ask "Am I the monster?", I love when a story successfully pulls that off. Some good moments that did come to mind though would be when two Silent Hill games suddenly force you to defend yourself and kill another human character. Throughout all of these games, you're normally just defending yourself against hideous monsters and things. There's no shame or guilt beating those blobs of flesh to death. But you're alone in this world with only a few other recurring human interactions and suddenly... forced to kill one of them in some of these and that hits me hard. Also helps that the avatars in this series aren't natural born soldiers or anything. It feels gross.
2. What's the longest amount of time you've invested into a single game?
I wish I could get an hour count on the years I've spent replaying Zelda games (Link to the Past for sure), Super Metroid, and Mega Man games. Those totals have probably stacked up a lot by now. I replay the Sonic's a lot too but there's only a few of them, with like 3-4x more awesome Mega Man games in comparison so those add up more.
Back in the day on the SNES/PSX, I was a completionist with JRPG's and rarely sought help from guides. I can remember my first runs of FF7-FF9 all landed in the ballpark of ~90 hours each.
Also spent 90 some hours on Phantasy Star Online.
Doom is my #1 time played on Steam right now with 107 hours, but that's mostly MegaWAD's and fan made maps, etc. Still, I've rebought and played the official Doom's a dozen times over too.
There are two newer Bethesda games I sunk 100+ into.
Other than that, my runs of the Souls series has really added up: Demon's Souls - 39 (first character), 74 (PS3 platinum). Dark Souls 1 - 126 (four characters across PS3/PC). Dark Souls 2 - 103 (PS4 platinum), 72 (PS3). Dark Souls 3 - 117 (PS4 platinum). Bloodborne - 93 (PS4 platinum). Sekiro - 63 and counting. 3. You're about to imprisoned for a decade for crimes against humanity (you performed a criminally bad Elvis impersonation at a children's hospital fund raising event). The judge says he'll allow you a single fourth generation console as entertainment during your imprisonment, with unlimited access to its entire library (including imports / fan translated games). What 4th gen console do you choose, and why?
SNES, it's my favorite and offers plenty of good action, platformers, and RPG's along with a perfect controller.
4. What's the most money you've ever spent on a single game? Was it worth it?
I rarely spend more than $60 and even hesitate when old games hit $50, I really want to be sure I'm going to like it at that price point. Unfortunately the only example I have is something newer from a few years ago, when I spent I think close to $100 on Mortal Kombat 10 and its "Season Pass". No, it wasn't worth it and I never played any of the post-launch content at all, my friends and I moved on by then.
5. Have you ever had the hots for a video game character(s)? If so, who were they...
Oh?...
Tifa got me in trouble as a teen. You can imagine. Some other FF girls like Rikku from FFX or Vanille and Fang from FF13. They seem to know the secret that female skin is the strongest alloy in the universe, so may as well not hide it?
I've always liked Ada Wong a lot. Jeane from the Suikoden series comes to mind. 6. Are you an early adopter of new console generations, or do you prefer to wait a few years?
Kind of fluctuates. I usually like to wait nowadays for a handful of games to pile up that I want then take the bite.
7. Do you generally rush through a game, or do you take your time and smell the pixels (so to speak)?
I don't like when people say "they don't have enough time" to play this or that. I like to take my time and my hobby is never a rush. Granted my attention and moods can shift, this is why I don't gel with MMO's or endless games, I like to get through an experience and get to the next. But I only rush it if I'm starting to dislike it or get bored, if I even bother finishing it. I actually might tend to be too thorough in some games, especially in the Deus Ex / Thief immersive FPS genres, I find that I sink into those for much longer than most.

1. Have you ever felt guilty for something you did in a video game?Felt kind of bad for killing fellow Stalkers in STALKER for their gear. 2. What's the longest amount of time you've invested into a single game?Somewhere around 150 hours on each The Elder Scrolls game. If we count multiple playthroughs, I probably spent even more time playing Gothic and Deus Ex, since I've beaten them more than half a dozen times each. The two KOTOR games I've also played a bunch of times, especially the second. Also spent a lot of time playing Devil Survivor as I've beaten it about 4-5 times. If we count multiplayer as well as single player, then I easily put over 1k hours into Rome: Total War. In case you're not familiar with it, it's a RTS/lite-4X hybrid from 2004. I used to play it online for the RTS battles - no resource collecting at all, by the way - since you can easily outwit the AI once you get the hang of it, while I would play it as a 4X in single player. Neverwinter Nights is another one I played quite a lot entirely due to the MP - only played the single-player campaign once. As far as MMORPGs go, I did spend a couple of months playing The Old Republic. What 4th gen console do you choose, and why?Hey, my Elvis wasn't that bad. Probably the SNES. I prefer how many games look and sound on the MD, but generally speaking the MD library seems more arcade oriented with less RPGs and those games don't appeal to me as much. Too bad for Shining Force, but I still got to play FE5 and that's on the SNES. 4. What's the most money you've ever spent on a single game? Was it worth it?Probably importing Rule of Rose from Japan and having to pay customs on top of it. Not that much money at the end of the day, around $100? I like to look at it. 5. Have you ever had the hots for a video game character(s)? If so, who were they...Oh yeah, Alma from FEAR 2, err, I mean. Nevermind. I never really had the hots for any video game character, no. Alright, I guess I kind of liked Bastila Shan from KOTOR, but that was back in middle school. I blame you, Jennifer Hale. I find her character insufferably tsundere nowadays - but she looks somewhat cool as a Sith. Interestingly enough, I think Atris from KOTOR 2 was the best character in that game and she is the exact opposite - a complete yandere. As far as just looks go, probably Lilith from SMT - her human form, too. Less so in SMT4, I'll admit. 6. Are you an early adopter of new console generations, or do you prefer to wait a few years?
My newest home console is a PS2 and my 3DS still hasn't been booted up.
7. Do you generally rush through a game, or do you take your time and smell the pixels (so to speak)?
I don't like to dilly-dally too much or I'd feel as if I'm missing out on some other game worth playing. That said, I won't put a game aside as long as I feel I can get some good value out of it.

I'll weigh in with my own answers...
1. Have you ever felt guilty for something you did in a video game?
Of all the horrible things I voluntarily did in games which allow the player moral freedom (WRPGs mainly), I never felt a pang of remorse. However in The Guardian Legend, when you blow up the planet... I felt guilty for killing all the Blue Landers. The little blue ball dudes that sell you items.
2. What's the longest amount of time you've invested into a single game?
I'm envious of some of you who can play a single game for so long, and not get sick of it. Let alone be able to replay the same games over and over and keep on lovin' them. If I had that ability, I'd certainly buy a lot less games! Anyway, the longest amount of time I've put into a single game so far, was 115 hours into Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl. That was beating the story campaign on Expert mode with zero artificial aid or outside help.
3. What 4th gen console do you choose, and why?
Ultimately I'll have to choose SNES, due to its droves of JRPGs, and its adventure games, and SRPGs. That longer more involved content would serve well if being locked in a cell.
4. What's the most money you've ever spent on a single game? Was it worth it?
I spent $180 on the English version of Aquanaut's Holiday: Hidden Memories for PS3. It was absolutely worth every penny.
5. Have you ever had the hots for a video game character(s)? If so, who were they...
While keeping in mind these are fictional cartoon characters, yeah sure. Cammy from Super Street Fighter II, Vanessa Z. Schneider from P.N.03, Tron Bonne from Mega Man Legends, Jill Valentine from Resident Evil, and Fleurette from Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors all come to mind.
6. Are you an early adopter of new console generations, or do you prefer to wait a few years?
I typically buy consoles at the end of their lifespan. Usually when said consoles' predecessors have just appeared. That is the sweet spot for picking up their games on the cheap. Also I'm generally not in a hurry to play the "latest and greatest" games, as I'm not motivated by eye candy, and I've already got a considerable library of unplayed games.
7. Do you generally rush through a game, or do you take your time and smell the pixels (so to speak)?
I try to go slow. I'm that guy who will stand around and just zoom in on textures, admiring their individual details. Or position the camera to try and create panoramic views, stuff like that. Although for as slow as I go, often times if I have to replay an area (due to a death), I will still find things I missed before. But at any rate, I much prefer to take my time and soak in the details. I have zero interest in things like speedruns or trying to beat my earlier times.

1. Have you ever felt guilty for something you did in a video game?
Oh hell yeah I have. When I first got into online gaming with Final Fantasy XI, I did some uh... questionable things. Outside of interactions with real people though, since that feels a bit like cheating, I do remember a moment playing Deus Ex: Mankind Divided where I basically had to pick a person to screw over, and I regretted my choice, but stuck with it, since that feeling was cool to have in a game.
2. What's the longest amount of time you've invested into a single game?
Yeesh, this is a tough one. I have well over 1000 hours in FFXIV right now, put at least that much time into WoW years ago, my file for the GC PSO has over 500 hours on it, I've put at least 500 hours into FFVII in various playthroughs, easily over 1000 hours into Pokemon, and I've played through Mega Man X over 50 times at least. I tend to not stop playing something when I like it.
SNES for sure, it has the best mix of games I play way too much already, and games that I still need to play, especially with fan translations.
4. What's the most money you've ever spent on a single game? Was it worth it?
$600 is the most I've spent for a single game. It was a Cave game, so yes, it was easily worth it.
5. Have you ever had the hots for a video game character(s)? If so, who were they...
Tifa is the first character I remember finding attractive (Funny to think about now). She had the polygons, but was also a badass. There have been plenty since then, usually falling into that "I'm hot because I want to be but I could kick your ass" category. Bayonetta is probably the best more modern example.
6. Are you an early adopter of new console generations, or do you prefer to wait a few years?
I actually tend to do a bit of both. When Bloodborne came out on ps4, I bought a ps4 to play it, and then sold the ps4. Once a year or so went by and the price dropped, and the library looked a bit better, I bought back in. Did the same thing with the Wii U and Bayonetta 2, and the Switch for Breath of the Wild.
7. Do you generally rush through a game, or do you take your time and smell the pixels (so to speak)?
I prefer to take my time, but I would always find myself rushing, I think because I had such a huge list of games I "should be playing", and I felt like I had to beat every game I played. I've relaxed on both of those points now, and find myself taking my time a bit more, and being more willing to just try stuff out without the need to beat it. There are games that feel fun to rush, and games where taking your time is the main appeal, so I guess it changes game to game.

These are some great questions. I'll try to hit what I can in my brief downtime. A few quit hits, though: Felt guilty about game stuff? Yep. I always play goody goody characters, so when I'm forced to do otherwise, it sucks. I was nonplussed having to use Kain in Legacy of Kain: Defiance and drain innocent folks' blood, or when a certain puzzle in God of War requires you to shove a dude into a fire to "solve" a puzzle. Not fun! I have a more recent example that I agonized over as well, but Pillars of Eternity is too new to talk about. Longest time with a game was probably Tecmo Super Bowl. I did the rough math, and to finish the entire game with every team would have taken around 250 hours. System has to be SNES. Has to be. Can't lose all the great RPGs. And honestly, it wouldn't probably be an Elvis impersonation, it would likely be a botched imitation of either John Madden, George Bush, or Charles Barkley from one of Frank Caliendo's routines. I don't think I've generally dropped more than $100 on a game. I had a few recent Kickstarters where I ponied up over $100, though. I might spend more in the future, depending on the value proposition, but for now, I'm still pretty thrifty. I'll have to rack my brain for the characters that were really hot. But yes, Xeogred mentioned Tifa, and that would count. The princess in Rygar was also really good-looking... which means that I think Britney Spears was attractive. Don't judge me. I mix it up when it comes to new systems. I bought the Wii day one, and that's the first home system I did that with. The first portable I did that with was GBA. I was also early on the DS wagon. I waited on 3DS, though, as well as PS3, PS4, 360, Wii U, and the like. But I bought a Switch at launch. When I was younger, I was well behind the curve. I got an NES right before the SNES launch, SNES a year before the N64, a Sega CD/Genesis at the Dreamcast launch, and so on. Now that I have the money, I tend to be slightly less patient, although there has to be a good number of games I care about before I'll snag a new system. I tend to try to be pretty thorough with most games. If I start getting tired of a game, though, I'm going to ramp up the speed and try to blaze through it. That can also happen with very difficult games, where I'm just content to get through the challenges at breakneck speed.

I had a few recent Kickstarters where I ponied up over $100, though. Well if we're including KS, the most I've ever spent on a single game was $230 for Tainted Grail (that includes shipping). But that's a board game (with expansions included), not a video game.

No, I’m a remorseless psychopath.
When I was a child my Pokemon games got up into the hundreds of hours. I’ve done that with a few modern online competitive games but I seriously doubt the total time comes anywhere close to the days of being 10 years and glued to my Gameboy Color all the time.
Sega Genesis, because Genesis does what Nintendon’t.
In 2009 I spent $90 on a disc only eBay auction for Panzer Dragoon Saga. Then I sold it back, putting me at a $10 loss. (I considered it a rental). As for whether it was worth it… I thought the game itself was overrated. Dragon Force and Shining Force III are both better RPGs on the Saturn in my opinion. Monetarily speaking I wish I had kept it. The price of that game has since ballooned and there’s no way you could get it for $90 now.
I am taking that information to the grave with me.
Here’s when I got my HRG compliant game consoles:
NES - 1995 (9 year delay) Sega Genesis - 1995 (6 year delay) N64 - 1998 (2 year delay) Gamecube - 2003 (2 year delay) PC (Intel Core Duo, 4 GB Ram, some kind of 512 MB Nvidia GPU) - 2009 (not sure how to quantify the delay? It was 6 years after my Gamecube anyhow…)
I’m really happy about the 8 and 16 bit ones, because they imprinted on me when I was small and left me with an appreciation for games of that generation. I might not feel that way if I had just grown up on the brand new (for the time) 32 bit stuff.
As for N64 and Gamecube, waiting 2 years for those felt like torture but it paid off because by then there so many games to choose from. The wait sucked, but I think it would have sucked even more to have a brand new game console with only a few games to choose from. The prices went down by then too. I picked up Super Mario 64 brand new at Wal-Mart for $20 then later Metroid Prime for the same price at Blockbuster. I couldn’t exactly run out and make my parents buy all the games I wanted so I had to make my money stretch.
When I was younger I would take my time. Now I have too many games so I just beat them as quickly as possible and move on.

As far as MMORPGs go, I did spend a couple of months playing The Old Republic. A bit surprised to see you actually replay games! Longer semi-newer ones like myself, heh.
Oh man if we're counting multiplayer games though, I bet I racked up hundreds of hours on CoD4. That game was one of my saving graces during a serious depressive episode a decade ago and I played it fairly regularly for a straight 2 years. I hit the max prestige on this game (hit level 55, 10 times), and had some gold guns (like 1,000 head shots or kills per gun or something). I also apparently got 1000/1000 for the achievements. So I literally just about taxed out CoD4 completely. 4. What's the most money you've ever spent on a single game? Was it worth it?
$600 is the most I've spent for a single game. It was a Cave game, so yes, it was easily worth it. Futari?

I'm glad some people do this and stop to take in the sights. This is one thing I appreciate greatly with modern games and 3rd person in particular, I love being in those huge outdoor environments. I keep wanting a bigger and bigger TV for these moments. And first person can be really immersive. I did two years of game design (Maya) at my high school and thankfully it didn't ruin 3D games for me, it made me appreciate them even more.
2D still has that magic for me too though, I think more recently... Ninja Gaiden II's back half with all those cool alien-like demon levels mixed in with a little sci-fi, the graphics on the NES blew my mind and the atmosphere was amazing.
