I think fans of these games know what they're in for and are just happy enough to get a game like this. I honestly never expected an Endless Ocean 3. Wheeeee! Debating whether I want to leave them sealed or not Considering these ended up not being Switch exclusives after all, I think breaking the seals is warranted.

Ex Xeogred Quick skim suggests that this writer likes the previous games. The argument is that "the magic was lost" because of the focus on procedurally-generated content. Online and multiplayer, even. Which would be my main worry about that game as well, because that's what tends to happen with that design choice. But there's also a story mode, which I think is made up human-designed levels. Knowing how much Ex likes these, I do hope it's good. I saw some random douche calling Eiyuuden a 4/10. He didn't have any specific points really, and used the term "nostalgia goggles". I've always hated the argument that you can only enjoy older styles of game design due to nostalgia. I play new-to-me retro games all the time, as we know. There's rarely any nostalgia involved, if ever. I just appreciate the game designs and aesthetics from different eras. I've heard complaints about the localization, though. We'll see. Maybe I'll get that one eventually.

the focus on procedurally-generated content This is what I'm most excited about with Luminous. The ability to explore a continuously changing underwater environment. If done well, this could add considerable value to the experience. A fresh dive over and over. If it's accomplished in a rote and assembly line kind of way, perhaps not. I like the idea on its face, though.

Which I find genuinely surprising. When has it ever been "done right"? Procedurally-generated always results in generic environments that quickly get tiresome. I guess it's theoretically possible, though. And again, since you bought the game, I hope you do find what you want in it. I'll be curious as to what you'll think of it this summer.

When has it ever been "done right"? I believe in Arika.

One of the few genres where procedurally-generated content works well is 4X strategy games. Stuff like Civ or Master of Orion II get it right.

Red Dead Redemption PS4 $27.26 brand new sealed Amazon -I beat this years ago on Xbox 360 and loved it. I will replay someday, and I never did the Undead Nightmare DLC, so that's worth doing second time around. From what I've read the PS4 version runs at 1080p 30fps fairly consistently, compared to the Xbox 360 at 720p ~25fps, so there's a quality upgrade as well. This is a GREAT western only bested by its sequel.
