I'm secretly a little glad every time I see someone disparage the Stadia on the Internet because I've been hoping for it to fail on principle since the beginning. Also, anayo, you linked to your own post re: Duck Tales.

www.cracked.com/blog/the-secret-reason-so-many-video-games-are-tedious-grind/This barely qualifies since I think it touches on the psychology of microtransactions, or at least certain trappings of modern game design that can be monetized. Personally I just thought the article makes an eloquent statement about why most modern games just don't do it for me. Whenever I try to talk about this to people who think NES is obsolete, I feel like I experience a communication breakdown.

(Inside Gaming's Brian Gaar on the upcoming $5 per month Apple Arcade subscription service)
"We haven't even touched on the whole ownership issue because at this point the idea you actually owning a game is complete out the window and I know we haven't ever really owned our games but services like this and Google Stadia are basically setting it up to where you're just paying for time to consume a game, which just seems cold. This puts everything in the hands of providers. It's not hard to imagine a future with no modding, no custom servers - none of the stuff that makes gaming unique. And I know music and movies have done the same thing, but games feel more personal...I still got old NES games that I can pull out and play. That's not going to be possible with this new crop of digital only streaming and downloadable games. What happens if Apple Arcade goes away? Do you get to keep those games you downloaded? If somebody tries to save or emulate them a few years down the road, is Apple going to sue them into oblivion?"

Every time I load up Xenoblade X, I have to manually click through a Miiverse error code (requires the annoying Gamepad confirmation click) and then another in-game message about the Miiverse features being disabled.
Don't really care about whatever features are missing, but that's still a kick to the nuts to players who might care and utterly wasted time from the developers.
