Well everybody this month's theme is MASCOT PLATFORMERS.
Our general consensus for a mascot platformer is:
The gameplay is classic jump 'n bop platforming.
The game's graphics have a "cute" aesthetic to them. The protagonist is generally a cuddly animal cartoon character of some sort.
However there's no hard and fast rule about what a "mascot platformer" actually is. Ultimately it's up to our participants to vet their own inclusions into this theme. If you want to play a cute-ish platformer that has shooting in it, you won't get any friction from me at least.
Once upon a time this genre was quite popular, so you shouldn't have any problems finding games to play. But if you want any suggestions for particular consoles, just let us know. Oh and here's a list of ideas from HG101: www.hardcoregaming101.net/mascot-platformer/

I'll be getting a late start on this theme personally, as I still have to finish at least ONE game for last month's theme. But I'll definitely knock out a few entries for this month once I get on it. I always enjoy a good platformer. Or even a bad one if it's short enough.

Bubsy and Comic Sans were made for each other.

"...establishing a new standard in the platforming genre." - Next Generation
True statement, just not in the direction this implied.

Poor guys, though. A lot of games had difficulty making the jump, and having to come out after Super Mario 64 had to have been a blow.
Someone should give it a play for this month. (I haven't decided if that person will be me.)

Note that I didn't say how long I would play, if I do.

Sarge it's too late. You've obligated and doomed yourself.

Sarge You finished Superman on the Genesis, and many other aggressively difficult games to play. I don't know how long Bubsy 3D is, but if anyone's gonna finish it here... Also, I'd kind of like to beat Astal, but IIRC it was crashing or otherwise defective with Mednafen and SSF when I tried it. Anyone had any success in emulating it?

I... I have downloaded it. I'm not sure what this says about me. But I am curious as to how bad it is, and if some of the "worst game of all time" talk is revisionist history. (But I am expecting it to be bad - it's rare for games that average slightly above a 50 to actually be good.)
