That's pretty cool. I see it has 36 volumes! Published: Oct 10, 1989 to Nov 26, 1996. So yeah... definitely must have been popular and why it's getting this anime remake. I'd wager the games are kind of "sacred" as is and they maybe don't often crossover much, but it seems like DQ4 especially could have been primed to be a cool OVA or TV series back in the day. With how much buildup all the main characters get, it probably would have been easy to write. But I'm guessing these could be complex deals between Enix, Toei, and Toriyama haha.

DQ3 > DQ5
Just got the Zen Book and grinded on some Metal Slimes to hit level 20, but I still want to get a few more spells for my Mage before going to Sage.

What I don't love about upgrading Samantha to a Sage... now it seems like the Heal All menu option will pull from whoever has the highest MP for mass party healing. It took me awhile to realize that's probably what's going on, up until this point I thought it was cool how the game was smart enough to pull from the Cleric, now I think it's just whoever has the highest MP since my Sage has healing now too. But I don't want her burning MP like that. Oh well, just a convenience thing. Back to manual healing...
I'm glad the world map design in this one isn't nearly as complex as DQ2's was when it comes to the sailing. That game literally felt like 8bit Wind Waker and that's not a positive coming from me haha... I'm glad the sailing is way faster in DQ3 and there's far less of it. Everything about the world and level design in DQ3 has been top notch and amazing to explore.

Yeah, I don't ever use Heal All because it tends to be inefficient with the healing. Manual all the way.

Does the NES DQ3 even have that feature? I thought it was super convenient up until this point and in DS DQ4-5 at least. One click and the game gets your whole party fully healed. Always liked that especially when I'm grinding or if I'm near a town/Inn and know I can really burn MP for fun. Otherwise I'd be careful about using it in dungeons or whatnot of course, don't want to wastefully heal someone that doesn't really need it.
It's funny to keep learning some new DQ tricks along the way, like realizing how easy it is to change equipment mid battle. As in right now I have a really good single hitting sword for my Hero, but I also still have one of the good whips for him too when I want to hit mobs. I guess from here on I'll be rocking 2 weapons in his inventory, though the multi hitting weapons sometimes become a little obsolete when the single hitting ones are way way better. Which might be soon... I have a few of the Orb key items and have stumbled upon some higher level enemies now. Think my party is all 25, though the Sage is like 14 catching up. Got most of the world map charted!

I named a Dealer "Cid" for the new town that he was left behind to build. Now a few phases later and it's "Cidburg".

Xeogred: No, the NES game didn't have that auto-heal feature. Remakes have definitely added a few creature comforts. I've actually been thinking about replaying Dragon Warrior IV - not the remake, the original NES game - just for sheer nostalgia. It's been a while.

It felt like I was running up to the end a bit quicker than I expected... except it's not the end! Not sure what's ahead next, but I took down Baramos. Who was freaking hard and required some grinding, luckily the dungeon wasn't too tough or long and I got a few Metalbabbles along the way. It was still a little more complex to grind than in DQ2 though, some of these late game mobs can be pretty nasty. I think you felt the level increases more quickly in DQ2, here's a little steady and takes awhile to feel that bump around the 30's perhaps. And I can't imagine fighting this guy without a Cleric + Sage combo for some constant double healing and buffs. Thankfully Sap worked on him and I could beef up my attack for both the Hero and my Warrior. Even my Sage is doing some good melee damage now too.
Still a few more places to explore I think. And the Phoenix is cool, just wish it moved faster...

All I know is that later games supposedly have some major direct connection to DQ3 or something weird like that... now I'm getting excited maybe there's another world, since that's happened in a few of them I've played now. And I recall you saying the end game character levels are probably like ~40 and I'm only around 30 now. I also guess my Hero doesn't seem to have an iconic set of legendary equipment yet either, which seems to be a series trend. Hmmm... I had to look up a few things along the way though, just so I wasn't stuck forever. Finding some of those Orbs, or like that dang old man in the North who wanted the Change Staff! I thought there was a gimmick to that area he's in, but reading into things revealed nothing... I just had to carefully move NE to see his house, without accidentally leaving the area. lol Still can't get enough of how sexy this game is.
