XeogredThanks for the break down, you explained the differences well. This makes me intrigued to play that 360 copy of TRA sooner rather than later. I'm glad the isolated and spooky vibe remained intact... I'm hoping this will be kind of like Prince of Persia meets King's Field.

That's a pretty fitting comparison. Admittedly I tried playing the PS2 Prince of Persia for the first time a few years ago hoping it would hold up but I couldn't really get into it. It seemed fine. But I'd say TRA is one of those games that has aged very gracefully compared to others from its era.
I guess you're planning to try TRA before the original?

You're killin' me, Smalls, you're killin' me. Which one were you playing? Sands of Time? That's easily one of my favorite puzzle platformers from back in the day. Of course, I was playing on Gamecube - that version or the XBOX version are probably a bit smoother overall.

The controls and *combat* was super floaty to me, I didn't like how it felt.
Funny enough I played a fair bit of Warrior Within at a friends... think he rented it or something. I remember it being annoyingly hard combat wise and was definitely trying a bit too hard to be edgy. I know that in retrospect most fans don't like this one much and favor Sands of Time for being more of a platformer and charming, but yeah. It didn't do much for me when I tried some a few years ago.
I did beat that weird 2008 Prince of Persia that had a cliffhanger ending even with the ending DLC or something ridiculous. I remember it being decent though. But it seems like once Assassin's Creed hit, Ubisoft has left Prince of Persia buried alive under the desert.

I guess you're planning to try TRA before the original? That's the plan. I paid money for 360 TRA, I might as well get that money back out of it. I beat Sands of Time back in 2004 or 2005, one of those years. I remember enjoying it quite a bit. Not sure what I'd think now. I still gotta finish its sequels. I have them on PS3 via that PoP HD trilogy.

None of them really live up to Sands, in my opinion. Warrior Within definitely had too much try-hard, edgelord stuff. The Two Thrones is a step back in the right direction. Forgotten Sands for 360/PS3 is fine, good even, but it definitely feels like it's trying a little too hard to recapture the exact same magic as Sands, and as such often shows too slavish a devotion to that material.
Now, the Wii version of Forgotten Sands is a completely different game, and for my money much better. It manages to use the Wii remotes capabilities astoundingly well. Don't go in thinking it's some lazy downport, it's absolutely worth a play.
PoP 2008 was its own thing, and pretty darn fun, but we'll never get a resolution to it. For shame. I also remember it having one of the longest credit scrolls I'd ever seen at the time.
