This is an interesting coincidence. I've been playing Final Fantasy Legend 2 for the last couple of weeks, on and off. I already gave my "report" in the Currently Playing thread.
On Kawazu-led games, the only other one I've played has been Final Fantasy II, the GBA remake. I don't dislike it but if you've ever watched ProJared's video about it he brings up a point that I 100% agree with: the dungeon design. I don't think the game would be half as bad if not for the empty trap rooms that ramp up the encounter rate and usually just serve as dead ends. Otherwise, I was impressed by the story (considering it was originally a Famicom title) and I liked that there were like one or two left handed characters (not important to me but it's still a fun little addition).
I'm looking forward to getting the SaGa Frontier remaster sometime in the next month or the one after, depending on finances.

The GBA remake is actually quite good. It smooths over a lot of those rough edges and makes it much more palatable overall. It's a really easy game, though, with the changes.

The GBA remake is actually quite good. What's the verdict on this version?

I played FF2 on PSX, GBA, and PSP.
The PSP version is the only one I beat, if that says anything.

The PSP version is basically the GBA version with a different coat of paint. I haven't put much time into it, but the balancing is similar if not identical.

It says a lot, and I assumed it was an update to the GBA version.
I have never beaten FF1, FF2, FF3, or FF4. I figured the PSP versions of those would be the way to do it. I do have them loaded on one of my PSPs, so that's a step forward. Although, the DS version of FF4 is supposed to be really good too. So I'm a bit torn on whether I should do FF4 on DS or PSP.

Well, there are two versions of FF4 on PSP: The Complete Collection that also includes The After Years and has a style similar to FFI/II, and the standalone FF4 that is based on the DS version.
Crap, I think I'm thinking about FFIII. I don't think FFIV got that release on PSP. Derp. It came to iOS, Android, and Steam.

Yeah the DS version of FF3 was ported to Mobile with enhancements, then ported from there to PSP with enhancements.
The PSP version of FF4 includes the After Years content. Or at least the version I have does. However, the DS version of FF4 is supposed to be actually challenging, and I find that aspect interesting.

The DS version is definitely more challenging. Especially more challenging than the original SNES release. I didn't think it was that hard, but you definitely have to approach it a bit differently.
I've heard the After Years content is pretty bad. I used to really want to play through it, but I flamed out pretty quickly on it. I think it's that strong sense of deja vu, where it felt almost like fan-fiction than a true followup.

I know I'm a bigger fan of FF4 than you guys... couldn't stomach much of The After Years. Felt like a bad fan rom hack sequel. Unlike a lot of the franchise, FF4 has an epic and conclusive ending. It didn't need more. I didn't know this comparison at the time but now I do, it tries to do the DQ4 setup with you solo'ing as the various main characters of FF4 for awhile. How fun does a worthless party with Edward and some random knights sound to roll around with for a chapter? Nuff' said...
I love the visuals of PSP FF4, but it is indeed SNES/GBA easy. Ex If you haven't played the PSX Chronicles version, it's the Japanese Hard Type. Real men play that version of FF4. Not a fan of the art style for DS FF3-4, but I'll give FF3 a shot sometime to see how that version is. I wish FF3 got that FF4C revamp instead. Sarge : Are you 100% positive the PSP version of FF2 does not further rebalance and fine tune everything just a smudge more? Or maybe I just got lucky with those dumb mechanics when I played that version. But it felt like a better experience than the other versions I attempted to play, even down to the balance and leveling. I don't know if it's specifically better though.
