Well I tried messing more with ePSXe today and configuring the controls for KF3 with my PS2 controller... still can't get it totally right. I wonder if the emulator is just finicky when it comes to remapping the shoulder buttons with joystick inputs. So I'm just going to endure the 15FPS and play on DuckStation sometime I guess.
On another note, I've seen this channel pop up in my feed a few times lately. Tons of full playthroughs with no commentary, high quality video, etc. Kind of fun to just click on some interesting looking stuff and skim through sometimes.
Lot of cool looking PSX stuff I've never heard of before:

epsxe must have trouble with your controllers. As Ex mentioned, never had an issue mapping controls with Logitech controllers.
Never heard of Chase the Express either, it looks pretty cool. Apparently it was released in North America under the incredibly generic title "Covert Ops: Nuclear Dawn."

( Shoji Kawamori designed the protagonist mech. )
Title: Omega BoostPlatform: PlayStation Region release played: USA Year of release: 1999 Developer: Polyphony Digital Publisher: SCEA Graphics: 5/5 Audio: 3/5 Challenge: 4/5 Fun factor: 3/5 Quick Thoughts: Omega Boost is a third person rail shooter with rotational mobility that gives the illusion of freedom of movement. Through 9 missions the player controls a fast flying, missile spewing mech against robotic baddies and many bosses. Omega Boost flew under a lot of radars in its day, despite being developed by the same developer behind the Gran Turismo series. With Omega Boost Polyphony Digital made the PlayStation render graphics that seemed impossible for its hardware. For players who enjoy shooters, mechs, and furiously fast action, Omega Boost is highly recommended. (Also recommended to Panzer Dragoon fans.) +Amazing graphics; Good CG cutscenes, 60FPS, insane special effects. +Truly achieves a tangible sense of speed. +The rotational boost + lock-on 'n' fire cycle is addictive. +Lots of fun boss battles. +Dogfighting enemy mechs in space.
-Will cause motion sickness for some players. -The final two missions are a difficulty spike to say the least. -Mission 8's timed boss is absolute BS. -The OST isn't always great. -What even was this plot? Ex's time to beat: 47 minutes 37 seconds
Ex's rating: 7.5/10
- That's gonna wrap this theme up for me, here's what I beat this month: Ace Combat 2 (9/10)
Omega Boost (7.5/10) Panzer Bandit (7/10)
Rapid Reload (7/10) The Adventure of Little Ralph (8/10)

Looks pretty cool. That intro is like some hilariously cheesy 90's Sci-Fi original. epsxe must have trouble with your controllers. As Ex mentioned, never had an issue mapping controls with Logitech controllers. Never heard of Chase the Express either, it looks pretty cool. Apparently it was released in North America under the incredibly generic title "Covert Ops: Nuclear Dawn." How about testing something by making L1/R1 left and right on the left joystick, d-pad up and down on the left joystick, L2/R2 up and down on the right joystick, d-pad left and right on the right joystick. Maybe it is a strange occurrence on my end testing it with two controllers, but I jump back over to DuckStation and everything maps perfectly. epsxe's fullscreen mode is annoying too with multiple monitors, though it's fine if I tell it to default to full screen. I like how with most other emulators you can minimize them on the fly. epsxe is showing its age.

epsxe is showing its age. It is. VGS had its day. ePSXe had its day. Now it's DuckStation's day.

*shrugs* To be fair, I never tried to do something super weird with the controls either.
But yes, duckstation has overtaken epsxe in almost every way. Actually what I disliked the most with epsxe was all the plugins you had to mess around with for certain games.

My favorite thing about DuckStation VS ePSXe, is I don't have to restart DuckStation to implement configuration changes. Always annoyed me having to shut down and restart ePSXe anytime I made plugin alterations.

Yeah... that's why I keep hoping someone else here would try mapping the controls in such a bizarre way like I am, haha. Surely it's not just me! Both joysticks won't work correctly. Even mapping L1/R1, to left/right on the left joystick... in KF3 you won't simply strafe either way, it has my character doing a backwards circle walk. It's just so weird, so I can only assume trying to map buttons with directional joystick inputs isn't possible with some emulators.
It's night and day when I jump back into Duckstation. The controls I configured for KF1-3/ST are sublime.
Outside of that weird aspect ratio thing you guys noticed when I play Tomb Raider II, yeah DuckStation has been a one and done setup for the most part. Everything looks and runs like a charm.

My Logitech controller allows me to map the L&R analog sticks to the L1/L2|R1/R2 buttons in ePSXe in whatever way I wish: I think ePSXe probably isn't compatible with newer PC gamepads. The Logitech I'm using is years old.

Isn't it weird how the inputs are RIGHT, LEFT, then UNK0, UNK1? Mine are like that too haha. You sure it works correctly in KF3 or something?
Could easily be right with newer controllers not working as well with this older software though.
I've lost track of how old my PS2 adapter is though. I think I got it from Play-Asia way back in the day.
