^Is that one one of the remakes of the NES games? Not that I know of. It does seem to contain four mobile phone titles bundled in as bonuses, however, in addition to the main story. I really wish the Fami/FDS Jake Hunter games would receive fan translations though, alongside Hokkaido Rensa Satsujin and Toki no Tabibito. I think these games may have kana-only scripts so I could theoretically play them in Japanese.... but I don't wanna.

You don't have to speak to everyone like five times kek. That's one of the reasons I don't like classically designed Japanese adventure games. I mean the ones that use a menu based interface. I'm sure Jake Hunter on 3DS is good. But it's no Hotel Dusk, that I can guarantee.

I think it's an all new one, not a remake. Looking at the Wikipedia page, though, there's a lot of them - would be cool to get more of them translated some day.

The original NES games were all written by the Glory of Heracles guy when he was at Data East, before he joined Square and worked on the PSX Final Fantasy games. Parallels to Yuji Horii and how he wrote a detective adventure trilogy before Dragon Quest.

Finished the main quest of Jake Hunter Detective Story: Ghost of the Dusk, which was mostly fun. The story wasn't quite as gripping as other detective games I've played, but I enjoyed it well enough. I noticed that if you save and reload the game you're kicked back to the beginning of a given scene, so I eventually made a point to just put the 3DS to sleep when I wasn't playing.
I'm gonna assume these bonus side stories are like 1-2 hours each, based on HLTB estimates of total playtime. Gonna start the first one this evening.

I really liked the games by Innocent Grey: Cartagra + Kara no Shoujo 1 & 2. They are quite disturbing though. And yes, I enjoy Famicom Detective Club. Of course there are some great mystery VNs that don't explicitly star detectives (Chaos;Head, Steins;Gate, Higurashi, etc......)

Never heard of Kara no Shoujo 1 & 2, will look into it.
Of all the Famicom Tantei Club games, the only one I played through was Famicom Tantei Club Part II on Super Famicom. I very much enjoyed its graphics and audio, but the game design/plot didn't work for me.
Hotel Dusk/Last Window still the best tho.

I've had little time to play video games in recent months. Still working my way through those Jake Hunter side stories.
I gotta say, the localization here is hilarious and bizarre. It's like they tried to alter things to make the game appear to be set in America, but the "Japanese-ness" of it all can't be hidden. So you have clearly Asian characters (the game has realistic art) named "Tony" and "Skyler." There's a bar called "Bricklayer's" despite the fact that the sign out front clearly says "Minori" (in romaji that is!!). The Western slang used is pretty funny too. At one point someone is called a "thot."
I probably have 6-8 hours left, I'm gonna guess.

Yeah, Capcom did the same lame crap with a bunch of the Ace Attorney games. I think it's insulting not only to the games' lineage but also to the intelligence of westerners. Not sure why localizers think westerners are averse to other cultures as game settings. Those side stories in the 3DS version, are they done in a chibi format? The DS Jake Hunter: Memories of the Past had a whole lot of chibi side story stuff. I only did the main game, didn't mess with the chibi stuff, but a lot of folks enjoyed that. Examples: Main Game Graphics Chibi Side Story Graphics
