I hesitated on Gears of War. That was a fun time but I felt no desire to keep going with them. The Lost Odyssey is amazing. Can't recommend that one enough.
Everybody loved Gears of War seems like. I've only beaten the first two GoW games on 360. I beat them co-op with my wife, which made those games marginally more entertaining, but they were still 6.5/10s for me. In contrast, I much more enjoyed the Army of Two trilogy on 360 with her. Much better shooting, better level design, cool weapon upgrade systems, more entertaining plots, just better games all around. The Army of Two games were good enough that I would have played those single player, which is not the case for Gears of War 1 or 2. I own a copy of Lost Odyssey, pretty sure it was you who got me to buy it years back. I'll get to it "someday". As in whenever I figure out how to create a time dilation dome, so I can play 10,000 hours worth of RPGs in 1 day. I guess if I gave up all my other hobbies and pursuits, I'd have time to beat all these RPGs, but nah. I will move this one towards the upper tier of the "someday" RPGs, though. It appears to have a serious mature tone and I always appreciate that in JRPGs. The protagonists might even be older than high school age!

I keep bouncing off Lost Odyssey, myself. I think it's that I don't love the combat more than anything - it doesn't feel very snappy to me. Still blows my mind that it hasn't been ported elsewhere, though.

Lost Odyssey feels like the lost PSX FF and a real mix of FF meets DQ battle system wise. I think you guys will like it.
It definitely has a few random crazy difficulty spike boss fights though. Be prepared haha. But by the end of the game it can get easy if you get good at micromanaging the skill system (it's like FF9's, learning stuff from equipment).
I played in Japanese, but the English sounded good too. The game has like 5 dubs/languages baked in, maybe that's why it's freaking 4 discs for that era haha. The characters are awesome and yeah, a bit more mature than average. Just wish the main antagonist was better. But it's a cool world, fun journey, and great tone.

Ziggy: You always do your homework from what I've seen, do you have any input on this topic? Us talking about PS3 era FPS's and ports again lately had me thinking of this thread again. Which really didn't amount to much. At least in my case, nowadays if any 7th gen game exists on the PC and runs fine, I'll go for that version now. For the first half of the 7th gen I was hardcore 360 only for the most part, then a total reverse in the second half. To the point of even double dipping for some games again to have on PS3. I just liked getting trophies again and having games on a single BD disc I guess. But I've long know that most 3rd party games ran better on 360.
That's besides the point though... is this still a strange black void of truly legit exclusives on 7th gen platforms we haven't mentioned yet?

Isn't Yakuza: Dead Souls still a PS3 exclusive? I'd play that.

I remember thinking at the time that there really wasn't many exclusives between PS3/360/PC. But now that all of the better games have had modern ports or remasters, it's even more true today. That gen, I had a Wii first. Then I wanted to get either a PS3 or 360, but couldn't afford both. The RROD thing pushed me into getting a PS3, I might have actually got a 360 otherwise. I didn't get a 360 until very recently.
The first game that pops into my head is LittleBigPlanet for PS3. That was one of my personal favorites on the PS3. The first two games as well as LBP Karting have remained PS3 exclusives to this day.
I remember being pissed that Fable II didn't get a PC port. I had played the first game on PC and was really enjoying it at the time. I think Fable II remains an Xbox 360 exclusive to this day.
Aren't the Jak and Dexter as well as the Ratchet and Clank collections both PS3 exclusives? I've never played any game for either series, but both always felt very Playstationy to me. And the Gran Turismo games are always PS exclusives.
I could probably come up with some more if I look through my collection.

Isn't Yakuza: Dead Souls still a PS3 exclusive? I own it, but as Xeogred said, reviews were "mixed". Might be fun in a corny way. I only bought it because of a desire to own every Yakuza game for whatever reason.

Some good picks here. I was always kind of curious about LittleBigPlanet's single player campaign.
Fable II was the one in that series I enjoyed. Cool stuff.
During the PS2 era I kind of fell off platformers. It wasn't until all those awesome PS3 trilogy collections that I got Jak & Dexter, Sly Cooper, and the Ratchet & Clank games. The PS3 is loaded up with more R&C sequels, I ended up really liking that series a lot! I'd say Going Commando and A Crack in Time are my favorites. The R&C series feels a bit like if we got a mix of more 3D Mega Man and Star Fox in an awesome way. Jak 1 definitely felt very N64 platformer influenced to me, I enjoyed that one. Didn't care for 2 or give 3 a shot though, haha. Sly 1 was excellent and 2 was solid. I fell off 3, had that problem of having too many new playable characters and minigames, it didn't seem as focused. I've been meaning to check out the PS3 exclusive 4th game, but it wasn't developed by Sucker Punch, so I'm not sure what to expect.

I know reviews were mixed, but I don't know. I think I'd probably enjoy it.
