If only FF6 wasn't the beginning of cake walk city. Next time I play it I'm going to try and ban summons/magic learning on everyone outside of Celes/Terra/Blue Mage dude. Should be more interesting!
What's wrong with FF10's plot? I think it seems very Sakaguchi-ish in a good way... the man seems to love death/loss haha. FF7, FF8, FF10, and Lost Odyssey all feel pretty similar to me in tone and ideas. Seymour isn't great and Yuna's religious antics are a little ridiculous though, but I otherwise like a lot about FF10's vibe and all.
X-2 is abysmal. I was enjoying it for what it is when I gave it a shot after beating FF10 again with the HD release, but man oh man. Hard quit after like 10 hours when I saw I missed some serious stuff. X-2 is chalk full of backtracking, triggered events you can easily miss by plain vanilla Joe NPC's, JOB CLASSES you can easily miss among other key items, and awful mini games galore. When I say MISS job classes and key items, I mean for the ENTIRE playthrough. It's a shame because the combat system seems great, but the mission structure of the game outside of that is hideous. I think it's impossible for anyone on Earth to 100% this game without numerous guides and research... now that is horrible game design.
I don't know if I can bring myself to play an FF on PC haha... but I do think I've heard the PC version of Zodiac Age is 60FPS and the PS4 one isn't, not sure though.
When I think of the good story bits of FF9, I recall there being some cool stuff about the summons like the classic games. And Beatrix was really cool, someone that should have been a permanent party member. Other than that... Kuja, Necron, etc... bleh. I will play the newer release someday. My gut tells me I won't have any revelations with a revisit, but who knows.
