Here are mine:
1. Play more classic turn-based RPGs then I have in the past few years. I'd like to beat 3 or 4 big ones, as opposed to the one or none I've been doing. Last time I did that was 2014, a decade ago. In 2023 I beat two, but they were both really short for the genre; End of Serenity, being one of those Kemco mobile RPGs originally, was only about 7-8 hours, while Last Bible was maybe 12-14 hours. So the two put together are shorter than your average RPG. I still really like the genre, something I realize every time I play one that isn't completely bottom-of-the-barrel. Of course it's largely a time issue, since the big ones average 40 hours. The most likely candidates right now are:
Persona 2: Innocent Sin (PSP), which I started dabbling with a few months ago - I only did part of one dungeon, so it'll depend on how the rest of them shape up. Really like the writing and '90s Japanese city setting so far, though.
Samurai Shodown RPG, some time after the revised patch drops (he's already made a bunch of bugfixes and improvements, so it should be a lot cleaner).
Last Bible III, a good-looking mid-'90s SNES RPG.
I've also been playing a little Legend of Dragoon since mid-December as kind of a secondary game I get into now and then. I'm about 8 hours in. It's a long one, 50 hours+ according to HLTB, so I'll probably be at it until February at least. I like it more than when I tried to play it years ago and stopped after Disc 1. I appreciate the Playstation Final Fantasy style and production value it's going for more than before.
2. Get to more heavy hitters. My list of games to play is divided into three tiers, A to C, plus a large "try out/check out" section for games I'm not sure about. I've tended to draw from the C tier and "try out" sections a lot, partly because I'm just curious by nature. I want to hit up more of those As.
3. At least one Yakuza and one Silent Hill.
Of course the best laid plans of gamers etc. etc., but that's what I'd like and will try to do. Also continue doing things I've been doing, like keeping up with fan translations as they drop to a reasonable extent, trying out at least a few games in genres I'm not deep into, and probably continue to focus a bit on the PSX (in the end I beat 8 PSX games last year) and games developed by Sega. That's a lot of categories, but they tend to overlap with each other. Those big RPGs, Yakuza and Silent Hill are all As or Bs, for example, and Yakuza is also a Sega series. So that's 3 categories for one game. And Black Panther is even a recent fan-translation. So I aim to play it somewhere in Q1.
