This article gave me an idea. In this thread we provide random bad video game protips. The dumber and more ridiculous the better. These are tips for any particular game or just the hobby in general. Give us your worstest! I'll start with these 5:Always save all your elixirs for the final boss fight in any JRPG. Third party controllers are always as good, if not better, than the OEM controller. So just buy the cheapest third party controllers you can find and don't worry about it. Before you start playing a new(to-you) game you should automatically buy all of its DLC. Want to keep dust out of your console? Cover up all the air vents with duct tape. Still got dust in your console's disc drive/slot? Blow that outta there with aerosol hair spray. In Dark Souls dump all your level up points into Resistance.

Here's a few:
1. If a move works once, it will always work. Just spam it! 2. If the enemy has a gun, use a knife. If they have a knife, go for a throw! 3. Would you perform open-heart surgery without first going through medical school? No? Then make sure to read a FAQ back-to-back before you start on a new game, or watch a longplay and take notes.

Related to this, something I tend to do... When attempting to start a AD&D-based RPG, always read detailed information about all the classes, obsess over which is the best class in the game, spend hours tweaking for the perfect build (and rolling for amazing stats if applicable), and then drop the game in the first hour. We all know it's all downhill from there!

Before playing a video game, watch a video of its final boss and the ending. That way you know if the game is worth beating.
Don't waste money on weapons in RPGs, just buy the best armor you can and lots of healing potions.
When playing any Mario game never stop jumping, always jump constantly, that way you won't fall in a hole.
When playing PC games set the resolution as small as possible so the game runs fastest.
Play all games on easy to avoid stress and finish faster.

- It's best to leave your consoles on 24/7. The hotter the system is running, the smoother your gameplay will be.
- While you're at it, you can pull those memory cards in and out as much as you wish while the system is on. The one time you do want to flip the power, is while you pull cartridges in and out rapidly, flicking the power and reset buttons altogether while shaking the cartridge in and out of the slot. This makes sure the batteries get an extra super charged jolt, making them stronger, and your saves will be safer than ever. Hardware needs exercise too.
- In both Resident Evil / Devil May Cry games, it's best to use your healing items immediately. Even if you're at 90% health with just a scratch, you want to be at 100% all the time. You never need to save anything for these special.
- In some JRPG's experience points are distributed evenly among your active party. This means you should play through the entire game with only one party member if possible, they'll get all the exp and be unstoppable.

When I do this I like to scream "oh I'm getting fired up, better cool down" and throw water on my console Here's another useful one: If a game lets you kill NPCs, make sure to do so immediately. Dead people can't hurt you.
