I think anyone like me who first played FF4 Hard Type (via the PSX release here in the US), would never ever forget Zeromus. Still maybe a top 5 OH SHII final boss moment for me. He completely destroyed me and had to grind up a lot for. Which was fun, I remember killing everyone off and solo'ing Cecil to power level him up a lot, then maybe another character or two and that carried me through to credits. Not to mention FF4's final dungeon theme still might be my favorite ever, so that was epic. Story wise for FF4 though, all the character turns and such got pretty funny by the end, so it was like of course there was something else behind all this. lol
Necron from FF9 on the other hand is pretty lame to me, but I didn't care for Kuja(?) much either or any of the characters in that one.
Too bad most FF final bosses have been easy. But the FF13 ones are tough and FF13-2's is cool too, one of my favorites. But yeah, whenever I run up against a real tough JRPG final boss, my mind always falls back to Zeromus a bit.
Kefka and his 20 minute Dream Theater symphony is so overrated.

I didn't forget Zeromus because I've beaten FFIV so many times, haha. I have weird FF opinions, though - a lot of folks love FFIX, and I struggled to get through that one even back in the day. Better than FFV, although I see the mechanical appeal that game has. And no, Kefka's symphony is absolutely all that. Get out of here with that noise. I may love this remix even more than the Black Mages version, which is also fantastic.

I guess I have weird FF thoughts too. I think ExDeath is amazing and a lot cooler than Kefka now, having played the GBA FF5 (finally a good translation). Kefka destroys the world then got lazy and sat in a tower doing nothing. ExDeath wanted to destroy the UNIVERSE. Kind of hilarious. I love the back half of FF5 too, the pacing seems a lot better than FF6's. Dang now that I think about it it seems kind of DQ-ish too. I really need to replay FF5... see if my love for it holds. But I absolutely believe gameplay wise that yeah, it's one of the best.
I'm half joking with Kefka. He's still good. I just think the first half of FF6 with the Empire around is a little more intriguing and better paced. This is also coming from someone who's beaten FF6 like 5-10 times, lol. So goofy nitpicks develop after awhile. I still probably like it even more than Chrono Trigger though. Been at least a decade now since my last FF6 run.
I just have to be in the mood for 5+ minute songs. I also think One Winged Angel is a bit overrated.
This is just as good and overlooked:
Just... incredible. Straight for the guttural, no fluff.

Oh, those are both fantastic tracks, too. If there's anything I do love from FFV, it's those battle themes. Good, good stuff.

Apparently OverBlood 2 has a superfan, because I found an actual dedicated page: overblood2.com Just like back in the day! And this is a recent page that was last updated in June of 2023. What are the odds? It's interesting because the game doesn't even have a full FAQ on Gamefaqs. So this is the best source for information on the game. It has rare promotional media and stuff like that. It also mentions a novel that was released only in Japan, further developing the story. "1999 saw the release of “OverBlood 2: Another Story” (オーバーブラッド2 アナザー・ストーリー)- a 288 page novel featuring five short stories that further explore the world, characters and story before, during and after the events which take place in the game. Authors included; Kinjo Shuri, Nagae Jin, Xincheng Kazuma, Yuichi Ishida and Junichi Sugiyama."

I've never been much of a Let's Play viewer but every once in awhile, if I stumble on someone with a quirky personality it can sometimes be a little fun.
Enter BigMacDavis...
Really chill dude who just plays Doom stuff. He even has some walkthrougths and has a knack for going for 100% items, which is funny among the Doom community. His skill level is fairly casual but his goofy charm can make his content fun and interesting. Maybe his walkthroughs could help toei if he ever tries an FPS. lol, which Doom would be a good choice.
This Brutality mod looks kind of cool too. But I'm still such a Doom purist, I don't play it with mouse look (vertical up/down). I can see how it's kind of necessary for this mod though and the changes to the enemies.

I did try Doom last year. It was okay, but I didn't like it enough to stick with it. Felt like I was ice skating through these big, almost formless levels. I watched a good part of a playthrough of this Doom horror mod that you probably know though, involving a house that would change into alternate versions like something out of Silent Hill. It was quite directionless but they kept finding new stuff by experimenting, which was interesting.

Ah yes, the MyHouse.wad. Even John Romero himself has played it now, guess it was a big deal a year or two ago. I should check it out haha.
And yeah Doomguy's equipped with ice skates.

I found this really interesting - and it really is wild to see what composers did with such a limited chip and how modern musicians react to what they did within those limits. Hopefully he'll indeed cover more Follin in the future.
