I have generally heard good things about Sonic Colors.

As for Sonic Colors, I think it's too new to talk about around here, but also I'm pretty sure someone around here mentioned that it was less terrible than other post 90's Sonic endeavors. Am I remembering this right? Sonic Colors on Wii is amazing and super fun, easily the best 3D Sonic I've played. Sonic Colors on DS is very good, worth playing. They are not the same games, despite having the same name.

My Dad decommissioned an old computer he was using as a server. I saved it from the recycling center so I could install Windows 98 and play games on it. Specs: Pentium III 900 MHz 512 MB RAM 20 GB hard drive ATI Rage video card I found a sound card at a flea market and will install it soon.

That's not Thief!
The innards look just like a random old computer I had for awhile myself. I guess that's maybe just standard Win98 era towers and parts though perhaps, but it's almost eerie how similar that looks.

I'm too into GOG, DOSBox, and virtual machines to deal with truly archaic computer hardware anymore, but I certainly give anayo props for keeping it real.

In a lot of ways, I am too, just for the sheer ease of playing on a computer I actually use. That being said, I have a Windows XP box set up that works pretty well for older games (Athlon XP 2600+, GeForce FX 5200), although it mostly gets used as my IDE burner box. I've got that Plextor I ordered set up in there, and it works really well for my various CD-based system burns.

Well, I do have an XP machine still operating in my dork cave. It's an ol' Pentium 4 3Ghz with a Radeon X850 XT, hooked up to 17" flat screen CRT, with some very expensive audio monitors. I built that rig back in 2004, it was top of the line back then. (Immediately obsolesced the following year, of course.) In the years since, I haven't bothered building another desktop rig at all. I've just been using laptops since then. I've only used said XP machine a handful of times since moving to this new house. It doesn't get much love these days.

Xeogred I haven't found Thief at a thrift store yet. Though it would be nice to find Descent, too. And it probably looks familiar because of all the IDE cables and PCI slots. ExI'm not really sure how "period accurate" these specs are because I feel like they're a lot more powerful than what anyone would have in the late 90's. Although strangely enough Quake III doesn't run very well unless I crank all the settings way down. Sarge My Dad still has my Pentium 4 XP machine. For some reason I'm not super nostalgic about Windows XP gaming though. Maybe because I had regular access to it as a teen and took it for granted. As a kid, I had limited access to Windows 95 and 98 gaming, so it seemed more magical. I remember seeing the "3D maze" screen saver on a computer at a store somewhere and just watching, entranced:

While I realize that anayo's set up was created because he was jealous of my set up, but I am now jealous of his set up Mostly because I feel like, if memory serves Windows 98 computers are fairly backwards compatible with 95 games, but all of the games I've collected from the late 90's/early 2000's are languishing on the shelf. There's also a hedonistic part of me that wants to, one day, fill a room with towers running every imaginable windows system (95, 98, 2000, XP, basically everything but Vista) just so I can look at them all and know that I have them. Did I say the hedonistic part of me? I meant the horder part of me.
