Well that's a useful little emulator box then, certainly more so than it is standard (weak library).

I remember Advent Rising getting a LOT of buzz at the time of its release. I remember it was one of those major hyped up "The beginning of a trilogy" type cases too that ultimately evolved into nothing. I tried playing it for the first time ever a few years ago and was blown away by how bad it was, lol. $2 sounds right I guess.

I remember watching a YouTube video about Advent Rising, but I don't remember it actually coming out back when it was new. Probably because my only news of the gaming world back then was my subscription to Nintendo Power. I couldn't remember if it was overhyped and bad or underrated and secretly good. Now that you've reminded me, I think that YouTube video I saw years ago lambasted it. If I had remembered that I probably wouldn't have picked it up. XD

Yeah, I think it got a lot of marketing and a huge push for being one of the big Xbox exclusives at the time. Maybe it was Gamepro and EGM that had a lot on it, I was reading those a lot back then. The story was written by Enders Game author Orson Scott Card. Tommy Tallarico also seemed to get a lot of coverage on it too for the music, I guess it was maybe one of his first big fully orchestrated VGM projects but I'm not sure. Maybe I just saw him pushing it a lot on G4 back at the time since he was a host on Electric Playground during that era.
It's sitting at a 63% on Metacritic. "The presentation is a technical nightmare, the story is poorly told, and the modicum of uniqueness the gameplay has to offer is almost completely murdered by sloppy mechanics and a myriad of bugs." - Gamespot
Guess it maybe tanked right away when it released and the reviews hit, haha. I wonder if others remember this one getting a lot of buzz?
No worries though, I picked it up for dollars myself years back when I first tried it. Only to kind of laugh at the results.

I still like it, but yeah, the original release was quite buggy. PC version is better, from what I hear.
Much like today, new gaming IPs, even with big names behind them, can often have a really hard time breaking through. I think Majesco shot for too big too fast.
Also, I have that Baldur's Gate collection. Paid more than $2 for it, though!

Well if Advent Rising is as bad as they say, you'll have something to enjoy during October's Horrorble games month!
I'm going to come clean here, I just wanted to type Horrorble again. Also, those are some great finds at some really good prices my dude!
