That's a lot of Disgaea! I think I've only got the first two games on PS2.

Buying 9 games out of a series you've never played is something else. About time you dig into that.

Yeah I wasn't kidding about being retarded, when it comes to hoarding stuff "I'm interested in maybe playing someday". That is another reason the PS4 is the last console I collect for. A man's gotta draw a line somewhere, there's only so much free time, and I'm not going to live forever. Not that others shouldn't buy new systems into perpetuity if they desire. I understand not every gamer who buys a new system then buys hundreds of games for the system. It's just I'm not like that.

I played about five or so hours of the original when I got it (I think, going purely off of memory), and maybe thirty minutes to an hour of Disgaea 2. The only reason I got the latter is that it was ultra cheap when GameStop was clearing out their PS2 stock. I actually think this series marked the era when I realized that I really wasn't big into SRPGs, despite them very much appealing to me on paper. Not that it didn't keep me from buying them when they were the right price, but I stopped prioritizing buying them on release like I did with Disgaea.

Ya, the first Disgaea is maddening slow on the grind, but it is what started it all. Ex wow, you have more than me. I never got the prinny ones, but if I find them cheap I'll probably dig into them.' I do understand about collecting games. For me just walking into my dork/man cave with games on the shelf brings happiness. I don't have to play them. It is why I like the covers/boxes for games. Although because of 3 destructive boys, I've converted to bitboxes for NES/SNES games.

I have slowed down collecting for this reason. I still go to thrift stores and look at the FB marketplace, but I could stop getting games and likely never run out of stuff to play. Indeed. I reached that point back in the mid-00s myself. Between that aspect, and the fact that true innovation in this medium has been at a sluggish standstill since the 7th gen, I feel less compelled to want to collect into perpetuity. Also, there's a lot of aggravations that come with modern gaming infrastructure/design/anti-consumerism (a big topic best served on our modern board), which grates against any desire to keep up with modern gaming. The PS4 is right at the verge of my tolerability threshold, and even with its architecture I get annoyed. Thus the PS4 is where I'm stopping for the foreseeable future.
What would make me care again about modern/future gaming, is meaningful VR/AR incorporated into a price competitive, well designed, well supported, self-enclosed platform. I have not seen that yet.

I've just beaten Dragon Slayer I on the Game Boy. This has got to be the most boring and tedious game I've ever played. I'd rather play Hydlide.
I hope to beat most of the games in the Dragon Slayer series before the end of the year. Can't wait to start Sorcerian, which looks awesome.

Definitely seems like a less than ideal way to play the game, although I hear it's pretty tedious elsewhere as well. I know others in the series are a lot better, so hopefully you'll have a better time going forward!
