What put me over that line (other than $15 extra towards it) was that it has a few pretty rare games on there, like Alisia Dragoon and Mega Man: The Wily Wars, or a translated version of Monster World IV. It's not something I need, but I'd been eyeballing it for a while, and the price was right. I'm sure I'll end up hacking it, too, just to add a few more special-ish games on there, but I'll probably treat it similarly to my SNES Classic - a curated collection of games, not a big ROM dump. Besides, that's what my PS Classic and PC are for.

I'm kinda tempted to hit up Amazon for a Genesis Mini My brother really liked the one I sent him last Christmas. He and his fiancée played it quite a bit. I really like mine, too. So far I've played a lot of Streets of Rage 2, Castlevania Bloodlines, Sonic the Hedgehog, and a little bit of Thunderforce II and Road Rash II. I already have the carts for all those, but it's just convenient having it in a box which connects to any TV with HDMI.

anayo How's the emulation holding up for you? Does it seem reasonably close to real thing? The only game I don't want to play is Dr. Robotnic's Mean Bean Machine. I have a finely tuned sense of how that game is supposed to handle and while playing it I can tell they brought input lag right up to the threshold of being unacceptable. I can't perceive it in the other titles. Considering the legacy of the Sega Smash Pack for Dreamcast and the AT Games Genesis products I think it's a great step in the right direction. Even though it's totally redundant for me I don't regret buying it for $50.

anayo I'm glad to read that you're getting your $50 out of the unit. It's definitely an attractive item to even just have on a shelf when it's not being played.

Welp, got mine in. So far, it's quite solid. Some sound emulation quirks I knew about (Comix Zone), but overall solid. I sense a bit of sound delay, but not as much as I was expecting. In fact, it seemed pretty close to correct in Bloodlines, so... dunno, it may be highly variable based on your TV and setup.
I also noticed that hooked up to my little 19" Sharp that it has the same static sound for a bit booting up, although it doesn't last nearly as long as on my modded SNES Classic. That might change once I hit it with Hakchi, though... Not going to try to mod it tonight, though - I just know something would go wrong and I'd be up way too late trying to fix it.
The d-pads on the controllers feel a lot more responsive and less stiff than the old Genesis d-pads. Very good stuff here. A six-button controller would have been nice, but very few Genesis games actually need them, so it's fine. Once I install Hakchi, it will also be interesting to see what other controllers it supports.

Grr, I only want one of those titles. Fascinating news though! Oh wait, Sega Lord X mentioned there are 36 titles, not just the 10 that have been announced so far. Then I re-checked the article you posted and realized they said that already but I didn't pay attention to that part.
