That is super slick. Between this and the mStation (or whatever it ends up being called eventually) giving generic ODE emulation, we're seeing some great replacements for those moving parts that will increasingly fail.

I got my MemCard Pro2 in for the PS2. Currently, it does virtual PS2 and PS1 memory cards, and there's more stuff in the works for it. I'm pretty sure that OPL BDM support (loading games from MC) is either here with a patched version or coming soon officially. So this thing will basically take over every memory card I have, and give me access to a lot of games, too. (Some games have some FMV stutter from MC when I used the MC2SIO, but many work perfectly.)

Being able to play PS2 games from the memory card is what appeals to me. If the data throughput is there. Stuttering FMV's not a good sign. Need the throughput to at least be on par with the disc read speed.

Yeah, it's close, just not quite there. Better than USB loading for sure, though. A lot of folks suggest using SMB loading instead, though, using something like a Raspberry Pi. Aaaaaactually, the bro just picked up some sort of file sharing doohickey, should probably see how that would work with the PS2 Slim.
I'm also not sure if they can do anything slick with the hardware in this card to improve MC throughput. It's pretty fancy for sure, and I'll be happy with it just as a memory card. It can automatically detect game IDs from an ODE (like XStation) and give it its own MC, and they're working on the same with OPL... and that might be another feature that's already there, not sure. I haven't dug in enough to find out.

Okay this is neat: flippydrive.com/"The Flippydrive is an optical disc drive emulator for the gamecube that installs without any soldering, can be used with or without a disk drive, and fits neatly inside the cube itself with no case modifications preserving the appearance of the system.
Loads disk images via:
uSD card (1TB+ supported) Experimental WiFi loading 16MB internal flash Ethernet (future add-on module)
Other major features include:
No-solder install Use with or without OEM drive 2.8x-10x faster than all EXI devices (SD2SP2, BBA, any memory card/SP1/SP2 device, etc.) in non-WiFi mode Real drive interface, no software hacks required One-button disk passthrough OTA software updates Rescue USB port for brick recovery No disk drives are scrapped to make this mod Stock-like menu using Cubeboot (pre-installed)"

Ooh, yeah, I saw that and am super tempted to get one and install it in my backup Gamecube. Or heck, maybe my primary. Seems like an even better solution than the SD2SP2/memory card interface, even if you have to be slightly more invasive to install it. No-solder solutions are great, though.

That is... uh, not something I would have expected. But it sure does seem like everything is getting a flash cart or ODE now! And apparently the creator has already sold out the first batch. Impressive.
