We could do more specific themes with the PS2. PS2 action, PS2 RPGs, PS2 PAL-exclusives (there's a surprising amount of good Japanese games that made it to Europe only), or just Hidden PS2 Gems.

Yeah, we'd just need to drill down a bit more given the volume of titles on PS2.
It might be worth the same on something like GC or XBOX - they have a surprising number of titles, too.

January = ? (3D fighters?) February = ChemaMarch = Ex April = anayo May = lurkeiJune = Sarge July = ? August = ? September = paulofthewest October = Xeogred November = toei December = ? Okay folks, January will be here soon, and we don't have a curator or theme for it yet. I vote "3D Fighters" for January, just because that's a pretty simple and easy theme to start 2021 off with. Let me know if you all are good with that theme for January please. As for July, August, and December's themes. We don't have to figure those out right now this month, but I'd appreciate if folks would start throwing out theme ideas for them. Thanks

Here are some ideas I've got:
- Sword & Sorcery
- Handheld ports: Basically any handheld version of a game that was also published for home consoles.
- Fan translations: Any game that received an English fan translation.
- Anime adaptations
- Military games
- First person games
- Sega-developed games

I know we've done fan translations before, so if we do another of those, it might be helpful to drill down a bit more. Perhaps something like non-Nintendo fan translations, so folks get away from the copious amounts of NES/SNES games out there. I'm down for a generalized Sega month, or any company we can think of along those lines. Culture Brain month seems like a good idea.

Handheld ports is an interesting topic but it seems very limited in scope. I can't see it carrying a whole month. I probably wouldn't participate in Military or First-Person months, but for the board in general I think they're good themes. I vote no to Culture Brain because they kind of suck Sorry, Sarge.

I would narrow it down to PC-Engine, Mega Drive and Game Gear. There ought to be enough games between the three systems, but we could also add one last system to make sure everybody could play something.

toei: There's a reason I winked on that one. I readily admit there are only a few Culture Brain games that are actually good.

Here are some ideas I've got: - Sword & Sorcery - Handheld ports: Basically any handheld version of a game that was also published for home consoles. - Fan translations: Any game that received an English fan translation. - Anime adaptations - Military games - First person games - Sega-developed games Sword & Sorcery is too vague I think. I'm okay with broad genres to counter-balance niche genres, but that particular topic is basically "anything fantasy" and we'd lose a sense of tangible definition. I agree with toei that "handheld ports" is going to be a really small pool to fish in. But it's a unique idea. We did have a "fan translations" month already, but I'm fine with a "Fan Translations Part II" month, as there's hundreds if not a thousand fan translations out there. If you guys want to limit the available platforms for Part II, I'm fine with that as well. "Non-Nintendo" cuts out a huge swath of the pool on its own. I very much like the "Anime Adaptions" idea. There are a lot of games that were licensed from anime (and manga). I am 100% all for "Military Games", though we'd have to box that definition down a bit to provide a tangible definition. I am 100% all for FPS games. I am 100% all for SEGA/Sega developed games. I probably wouldn't participate in Military or First-Person months Fair enough, though I think it's a positive for a gamer to challenge themselves outside their basic comfort food genres, via playing CR genres they normally avoid. I've been pleasantly surprised in doing so, personally. But what I'm describing there concerns the traditional CR voted themes. That said, let's keep in mind the rule that if you curate a 2021 CR month, you must also play (preferrably beat) at least one game for every other curators' 2021 CR themes. It's a fair rule. Unfortunately I have to agree. Looking over their work, nothing jumps out to me as something I'd like to play. With the exceptions of perhaps X-COM: Terror From the Deep and X-COM: Apocalypse. However, Sarge I still enjoy the idea of using particular developers for occasional monthly themes. Here's a few I'd be keen on: EnixFalcomSierraAnd as mentioned previously, SEGA/Sega developed games.

That info is clearly wrong. Culture Brain didn't work on X-Com at all as far as I know.
Enix is absolutely my jam.
