No worries. The PS1 has obviously been on my mind, so I'll look forward to that.

I might still be contrarian and play a Sierra game. Who knows? Quest for Glory 2 would be fun to dive into.

I might still be contrarian and play a Sierra game. Sierra did publish a few games on PS1: Definitely killer apps right there.

- Rising Zan - Soul of the Samurai - Shadow Tower - Parasite Eve - Tomb Raider 2 - Tenchu
Jotting down some of my own ideas for December so I don't forget.

If you play Soul of the Samurai, I recommend you play as Kotaro (the guy). His battle style is more technical and fun, whereas with the girl it's pretty mindless. Actually you'll have to play with both to get the true ending, Resident Evil 2-style, though it's a shorter game. But I'd say play with Kotaro first.
Rising Zan is a difficult game to get into on account of all the technical issues. I ended up getting some enjoyment out of it, but I wonder if you'll have the patience.
I fully recommend Tenchu, of course, and I hope you get into Parasite Eve this time.

Parasite Eve was such a great playthrough. I should consider giving it another run. It's not even that long a game - shorter even than Panzer Dragoon Saga. And I can very much appreciate that.

anayo bonesnapdeez Chema EasyHard @hutonchickenlegs paulofthewest Sarge toei Xeogred ZiggyI have tagged the 10 people who have most recently logged into HRG. We are coming up on the end of the year. That means we should start deciding the Club Retro schedule for next year. In 2021 we did the "curator month" thing. In 2022 we could do that again, or we could all throw out a bunch of ideas and see what sticks (via a loose vote). I'm more for the latter approach, but whatever works for you guys is fine. For those that intend to participate in next year's Club Retro themes, please let us know your preference (curator/vote) and any theme ideas you'd like to see. - Some CR theme ideas I remember being mentioned earlier this year:Kemco Games PS1 JRPGs TGCD/PCECD Games Some other theme ideas I like:3D Flight Simulators (shmups don't count) Friends Recommend (we all recommend games to each other, each member has to play at least one recommendation) Opposite Day (play a game(s) in a genre you normally never do) Platformers w/ Swords (platforming games where protagonist uses a sword) Soul Crushers (legit beat legendarily hard games like Shattered Soldier or Ghosts 'n' Goblins) Underwater Games (game must take place underwater) White Whales II (finish games that beat you down years before)

We could also have a "yearly" theme - tackle a particular year in gaming. Experience the sort of cultural zeitgeist at the time. Or even pit two years against each other - the top games from two years that were considered the greatest of all time. 1998 is often bandied about, but I also find 1995 and 1997 particularly strong.

I like a lot of those. The first 3 Ex named, I support. 1995 month is great because you have the end of the 16-bit era and the beginning of the 32-bit era at the same time, plus big things happening in the arcades. I'd also vote for Soul Crushers month and definitely Platformers with Swords.
I'm thinking of a theme revolving around a specific game designer - any game that person had direct involvement in. Yu Suzuki month, maybe?
