Is this expansion pack standalone? I mean like if you buy it off Steam, can you play it right away? Or do you have to install it into a preexisting load of DOOM? Back in the the '90s we'd just share .WAD files and that was it, but no idea nowadays. Yeah the midi version is free. Sigil I and II are both 8 maps each with a 9th secret map, just like the original Doom episodes:
You just have to "own" Doom and have the main IWAD / data files. Then with GZDoom or whatever you can load this wad with it. Lately I now use ZDL because you can set it up with multiple source ports and such, it's really easy:
No need to mess with config files/paths anymore to customize how Doom launches! There's a lot of good source ports now. Chocolate Doom is a fun one that's like the original. But yeah GZDoom is amazing and what I mainly use. I think it even has controller support now.
Pretty cool how even the console versions of Doom now have some of these fan made wads added in.

Thanks for the run down man. I am familiar with GZDoom though I've not used it in a very long time. I'm sure it has progressed quite a ways since then. Pretty rad of Romero to release Sigil 1 & 2 for FREE. This guy's alright.

No joke I often bust out Doom again when I get a new monitor/computer or whatever. Great way to see how sharp and colorful everything looks. (but nah I'm not going to play Doom on my OLED TV lol).
You or Sarge should check these out. I mean, they pretty much ARE the official Episodes 5-6.
I may pay another $6.66 to replay Sigil 1 with the Buckethead mp3 OST. But I do think I like this instrumental THORR band for Sigil 2 more. It felt very Quake II in an awesome way. I do think the midi tunes gave it a bit of a darker vibe though.

Been replaying the old 2001 Alien Vendetta megawad. For years I've still considered it my favorite, but I'm not sure now haha. I'm up to map 13 so far but there's been some goodies.
I always love when this mysterious DN3D midi pops up in Doom.
Wouldn't mind recording my own gameplay to showoff for you guys. The Windows built in recording software doesn't seem to detect the Doom window or something though... guess I could look into something else.

Doom maps are such a work of art. This one is still legendary. Fan made. [insert linear Call of Duty level design meme here vs THIS!]

My new milestone. And this is just from tracking Doom playtime from 2016 and on or so!
Next up is Elden Ring at 178.
Then all my local friends are weirdos with hundreds, thousands of hours in online crap like DOTA2 or whatever.
