Ex If you're posted on an army base in a foreign country, aren't you there for quite a while usually? The Japanese stores that sell X-Boxes probably sell Madden too, and whatever else you might need. I was being partly facetious, but I'm pretty sure I actually read something about how a portion of MS's console being sold in Japan where in fact sold to expats (like, say, long to middle term US residents of Japan) and army personnel. There's a lot of people on these bases, and those sales numbers are quite low. I know *some* Japanese are buying them too, but it's definitely a pretty hardcore niche.

English Xbox games tend to be North America or European regions, not Japan region. Yeah, there are some Japanese fans of the platform. But they are a rare breed...

Oh, right, yeah, Tecmo definitely gave some juice to the system as well. Makes sense - a lot of their games certainly had a Western appeal for varying reasons, but I have to think the Ninja Gaiden games have some cachet in Japan as well.

Ex For US-made games that aren't story-based, I think only the menus would be in Japanese, so they'd be playable without Japanese knowledge. Even in games with story, the dialogue might not be dubbed. Also, that guy is wearing army pants, so he's halfway there.

Can someone explain to me what I'm missing with The Peace Keepers? Some people apparently like the game, but... man, the combat just feels pretty awful, and I just found out that the game does have music, but you have to turn it on in the options. What?

I think the Japanese version has a different OST too or something.
It's the best of the Rushing Beat series by miles, but I'll admit this one is pure nostalgia for me. I played it a lot growing up and the alternate paths/bosses gave for some great replay value, trying to discover every hidden path. I would advise trying to play with one of the secret/unlockable characters. I think one of them plays and feels the best: At the Jaleco Logo, hold L,R,A and press START. Hold the buttons down as the game starts
But yeah, I haven't done a full run of this game in over a decade probably. I always fall off of replaying it now because every enemy feels like a sponge.
When I often didn't have access to the Streets of Rage games and played Final Fight 1 too much, Peace Keepers was the filler alternative.

Would you believe that Final Fantasy Adventure has 4 romhacks on romhacking.net, and they all just change the title screen? www.romhacking.net/games/1177/

EasyHard: That's... a lot of title screen hacks. I guess just a bunch of people wanting to practice their hacking skills a bit on a simple project? Two for changing it to the mobile phone naming, one for the GBA title, and one back to the original Japanese.
