ExThat's the sort of thing that would make sense only in the NES era. XD

Trippy stuff for sure. I still remember the Miracle Piano Teaching System as well, which admittedly made a bit more sense.

What's the HRG's community's consensus on RE0? I know REmake is (rightfully) highly regarded, but I never see anyone talking about RE0 on forums. Does it suck? Is it great? Why's it forgotten?

I thought it was pretty well received back in the day. I own it, but I'm not even sure I've played it yet...

It's got serious issues. It's low tier RE for me, but still better than Code Veronica.
The biggest problem I have isn't its two character system, it's the awful inventory management with a new twist. Okay, so you can't have a magical treasure box sprinkled throughout the game for all your items no matter where you go. Now you can drop items in rooms, on the floor... but only a certain amount per room. Be prepared to spend a LOT of time backtracking throughout this game to "transfer" items the further you get into it, from one place to another. Then you sometimes unlock a shortcut you'd never expect and are like damn, now I have to transfer a bunch of items from X to B!!? Or you previously just wasted a bunch of time.
They should have just stuck to the RE1-3 chest in the save rooms. This is all coming from a guy that otherwise loves the item management in RE1-3 and CV. They made sure it's extra annoying in Zero and more items than usual take up 2 slots.
The story doesn't enhance RE1's plot or anything at all. It's not actively bad, but it's not interesting at all either. Rebecca is cute though.
Gorgeous game though, it's a shame CV wasn't the same engine or didn't have pre-rendered backdrops like this one and REmake. I think Tsumuri liked Zero more than REmake actually, but for me it's not even like 1/5th as good as REmake.
It's one I still curiously revisit every few years, but not nearly as much as the others. I plan to play the Wesker Mode next time I replay it, which will just make the game a humorous cake walk and probably more enjoyable.

Thanks for the info Xeogred. Sounds like the inventory management downgrade was done in the name of artificial longevity. Oh well. I've owned a mint copy of RE0 for years upon years, still haven't played it. Was considering selling it, but feel guilty if I don't at least try it first...

Give it a shot. And I would stick it out until you at least finish the initial train section. You get to another mansion and the vibes/level design is still fantastic there. Who knows, maybe you'll like it and won't mind the weird experimentation. It definitely tries to break away a bit from RE1-3/CV.

Are bots creating fandom pages now? I suspect this Shinobi 3 page wasn't created by actual humans. Random quote: "Shinobi 3 was originally set to be released in 1998. Several gaming magazines (including GamePro, Mean Machines SEGA and Engines PSONE Computer & Video Games) gave previews and even reviews of the game, showing pictures of levels 220, enemies bosses, artwork and special moves which were not seen in the final version at all. Because of being unsatisfied with the result, Sega had put the game back into development to heavily improve it and delayed its release until 1984, 1980. When Shinobi vs Khasuzi MD-3 was finally released, a lot of game features seen earlier were missing forcing, while new ones had come in place. A beta-version NTC of the original version by in the mode French of the game has been leaked and is now widely available as a ROOM image." Like this paragraph, the whole page is a mixture of stuff copy-pasted from elsewhere, made-up dates (1980, 1984?) and complete gibberish.

It looks like defacement: sega.fandom.com/index.php?title=Shinobi_III%3A_Return_of_the_Ninja_Master&action=historysubmit&type=revision&diff=29697&oldid=28474This is why all wiki encyclopedia entries are never to be trusted at face value. (In case anyone is coming to this late, I just reverted the last user's revisions.)
