I'm mad that the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy for Nintendo Switch is the XBOX era Ninja Gaidens and not the NES ones. Why? There are already many options to play those. They're more readily available to play than the XBOX games. Though as Xeo pointed out, apparently the collection doesn't really do them justice. Yeah you make a good point. Wasn't Ninja Gaiden Black stranded on the original XBOX until this compilation came out? At first I couldn't tell if you meant: A) If you beat the modern on trilogy on hard, you will unlock the NES trilogy.or, B) Beating the modern trilogy on hard doesn't unlock the NES trilogy, but it should. So I excitedly went online to get to the bottom of this and was disappointed to learn that you probably meant B. Bummer. I agree, they should have done option A. Then everybody's happy. I

Also, the NES games are hardcore burning bags of rotten trash, but that's a different topic. You are dead to me. Unless you are talking about the third one.

I like the third game. I just don't like the balance changes they made for the US version... but I still like it anyway. It's a brick wall, though. The Japanese version is much more forgiving - definitely the easiest of the series.

paulofthewest Every single Tecmo employee should have been thrown in prison for committing the first two Ninja Gaiden games. The third one isn't as bad in its Japanese version, but it's still super mediocre.

I think I want to say I liked NG2 the most. That one had most of the demon-hell styled levels in the back half right?

I find it hilarious we have strong opinions on the NES Ninja Gaidens. I'm not saying the third is bad, just my least favorite of the three. Namely I preferred the levels from the first two. Although, I'll give the third one a plus on the weapon upgrades.

Our man toei has some unique gaming opinions. He thinks Super Metroid and A Link to the Past are crap, for example. While I don't agree with plenty of his takes, I do appreciate that we have such a diverse range of opinions on HRG. If this place was an echo chamber I would nuke it in disgust.
I have only finished the first NG on NES. I'd give it an 8/10, it has some bad game design at times, but overall is very solid and was quite ambitious in its day.

I barely buy games anymore and I'm no longer "keeping track" of my collection. Feels liberating; I should have done this sooner.

I think we've all got some unique gaming opinions, no doubt. Always good, though. And one of my "unique" ones is that I actually think NG2 is the weakest of the bunch. Yep.

I don't think Super Metroid and A Link to the Past are outright crap, but I do think they're so-so at best. I prefer the Zeldas with more story and a more interesting world, like Link's Awakening and many of the later one. ALLTP is just dungeons and one lame town where the dialogues never change. I do think Super Castlevania IV is pretty bad.
