Has anyone here ever played Dragon Force? I remember hearing about it a lot as this great Saturn game years ago, but at the time I wasn't willing to play a non-rpg strategy game. Maybe I should try it.

Extremely sexy game. Massive and complex with a myriad of characters and menus upon menus. Stunning art and one of the better Working Designs localizations. Great music too. The fan-translated sequel is just about as good as the original. Play now!!!!!!

Ys III looks amazingly similar to Tritorn II, though Tritorn II apparently came out first. Explain yourself Falcom!!!!!!

toei will figure out if they share some staff or history. Xeogred Shinjuku is probably the most famous ward of Tokyo, since I think that's traditionally been where the most bars and clubs and so on are, and I guess it's basically the big commercial center as well. I think it's home to the red-light district as well, which is probably why it's so famous/infamous. I know that's it's the first place within Tokyo that I ever heard of, in Japanese entertainment. There are tons of movies "Shinjuku" in the title going back to the late '60s, which hardly ever happens with any other areas (other than entire cities, mostly just Tokyo or Osaka), and you hear the name in songs. The name Ikebukuro I remember mostly from SMT as well. Hah, I guess it's safe to say it's like Japan's New York. Iconic location that gets dropped into anything and everything.

I don't think the credits for Tritorn 2 are online, however it's unlikely they shared staff as apparently Xainsoft was seen as Falcom's wannabe rival, at least according to this Japanese page: "Zinesoft had a rivalry with Nippon Falcom that was similar to admiration. Seeing that "Xanadu'', which had the same horizontal perspective as "Tritone'', was a big hit, there may have been a sense of rivalry, saying, "If it's a horizontal perspective, it's us!'' When developing Tritone II, company president Takahiro Miyamoto himself confidently trumpeted its success, saying, ``This can beat Xanadu!'' It seems that Zinesoft's scale orientation* was an expression of its desire to "catch up with and surpass Nippon Falcom." However, Zain was the one who went astray and mass-produced bizarre works..." *they mean the side-scrolling view I think Worth saying that both Tritorn and Xanadu came out in 1985. Both companies may have been looking at each other's work, but the fans liked Falcom's games better, in the end, and they survived. I'm gleaning that Xain's games had a reputation for being very difficult, probably unfairly so. This later Xainsoft game has a protagonist that reminds me of Adol: Looks cool, apart from how it seems like you can't avoid taking tons of cheap hits. It was their last game, apparently.

I've only played the first Tritorn and it indeed resembled Xanadu, right down to the lil chunky azz sprites. Xain had some other primordial RPGs, namely Mirai and A.R.A.M.O., which have aged like ass but are cool entries in the early ARPG pantheon. Never heard of that X68000 game until now though, looks dope.
Xain also touched on VNs, briefly. I love this aesthetic.

I agree with Ex on the original XBOX. The 360's backwards compatibility is really spotty. They are also indeed quite easy to softmod, even easier than they used to be back in the day.

I'm thinking I want an oXbox over an Xbone, but just for argument sake, how is the backwards compatibility of the Xbox One compared to the 360?
Any one have any links to current best soft mod methods? I looked at a few already, but I don't know if they're outdated or if there's easy ways. Basically, you inject some files onto a USB drive, then load a particular game, and I guess the hacked save file cracks the security and allows you to install the CFW or whatever. Is that still the easiest or best method?
In 2024, how easy is it to install a larger HDD in the oXbox? I remember when I had an oXbox years ago, I looked up how to upgrade the HDD and it was a beast of a process. It seemed so complicated that I didn't even bother. Is that still the case? Or has someone found an easier way? If it's still a brutal process, that's not a deal breaker for me.
Anyone have any suggestions on where to buy an oXbox online, aside from eBay?

360 is better than XB1, XB1 only supports 63 OG games according to Wikipedia, 462 OG games for 360, although many games exhibit issues. It's been a long time since I've hacked mine - I used the old MechAssault method and an Action Replay card reader to get the necessary payload in place. I consistently see the Rocky5 tools mentioned these days, which apparently uses a different dashboard exploit, but still requires getting a file onto a memory card. I think upsizing the HDD is a lot easier now - there are tools to change the HDD key from its default to zeros, and that lets you lock another drive the same way. But don't quote me on that! github.com/Rocky5/Xbox-Softmodding-Tool

Ah, that's what it was. Having to unlock and then lock. I think I've read that a mod chip allows you to just swap the HDD without worries. Honestly, I'd rather install a chip then do all the softmod stuff.
Just a quick look, oXboxes are kinda pricey on eBay. For a decent looking one in tested/working condition, you're looking around $100. And that may or may not include cables and a controller.
