This might be old news to you dudes, but for me it was new news. Figured I'd share for my fellow NES emulator aficionados. When it comes to Windows NES emulators, I've been happy with Nestopia for a long time, but I think Mesen has unseated it. This emulator is feature rich, easy to use, and has a modern sensibility to its GUI. From the webpage: Mesen is a high-accuracy NES and Famicom emulator and NSF player for Windows and Linux. Features: www.mesen.ca/#Compatibility
High Accuracy: A lot of effort has gone into making Mesen as accurate as possible. High Compatibility: Over 290 mappers supported (all licensed games supported) NES, Famicom, Famicom Disk System, Dendy, VS System, NSF and NSFe emulation is supported. General: Save States, Rewinding, Movie/Audio Recording, Overclocking, Cheat Codes. Video: Numerous video filters, customizable palettes/overscan, support for HDNes' HD packs. Audio: Stereo effects, per-channel volume and panning, equalizer, etc. Misc: Netplay, 7z/zip support, IPS/BPS patch support, automatic updates, and more!I've been messing with Mesen a bunch today, and I'm mighty impressed with it: www.mesen.ca/Check it out, if you've not done so yet!

I'll try it for sure. I've been using FCEUltra for like a million years, and I've always been satisfied with it, but this sounds really solid.

How are the system requirements vs. Nestopia? I'm running a potato laptop these days, although I can't think it would be more stressful than running bsnes/higan.

How are the system requirements vs. Nestopia? The only thing Mesen's site says is: System Requirements Windows
Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 are supported DirectX 11 .NET Framework 4.5+www.mesen.ca/docs/gettingstarted.htmlNot very helpful I guess. My laptop has this processor: It runs Mesen A-OK. I really don't think Mesen is much of a system hog, seems very well programmed and intelligently designed.

I've been pretty happy with FCEUX myself, but I'll have to check this out!

Another fan of Mesen! Nice! It's easily the most accurate and feature rich emulator for the NES. By the way, I usually refer to this resource whenever checking out the best emulators for a given system. Not sure if you've guys have seen this: emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Main_Page

Nice. I've seen that page pop up when I was doing some research on PS1 emulators, but it looks like they cover darn near everything. I should bookmark it!

I like to record myself beating games, so this is an attractive feature.
