LandstalkerNeutopiaSoma BringerMagna Carta 2 Of what you listed, I think these would be the most interesting to see you play. Soma Bringer at the top of course. It'll take 25-30 hours to beat. Took my wife and I 35 hours, but we spent a lot of time on optional stuff because we liked it so much.

Sarge Honestly, Tales or Radia don't count, since these are really just traditional RPGs that happen to have real time battle systems rather than true action RPGs. So I would recommend Landstalker and Crusader of Centy. Neutopia is pretty, but it's kind of a mediocre Zelda clone. Still, you're a big Zelda fan, so you might enjoy it more than I did. Soma Bringer does sound cool.

I guess it depends on how you consider them, because action combat on an RPG I think counts... but I'm probably not going with either of those, anyway. Heck, I could also finish up this Portrait of Ruin run I've got going. Speaking of which, I know it's probably not the genre folks think of with ARPGs, but if you haven't played Symphony of the Night, please do so. A couple of other games I thought of in the Diablo vein: the X-Men Legends games and the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance games, and stuff like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance or Champions of Norrath. Oh, right, and don't forget Record of Lodoss War on DC, or Shining Force Neo/EXA on PS2.

So the common thread there is Landstalker, and that might very well be which way I roll.
I actually started a playthrough of the game (again) a while back, before I picked up my Mega EverDrive. And this was on my legit cart, even! Well, I'm not a huge fan of my d-pad options for the Genesis (although I've got a better pad now), so I might just use my dumped ROM/save in Kega Fusion.
Dang it, though, playing on the CRT is awfully tempting... and I do have a better option than the awful Genesis composite.
Oh, before I forget it - Legend of Oasis.

Oh yeah, Legend of Oasis is really in the same vein as Beyond, so I'd be surprised if you didn't like it.

I think I put in about three hours years ago, but I always bounce off of it other times. Not entirely sure why - could be timing, getting distracted by other stuff. Who knows?

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance If you've never played through this, I recommend it on PS2. My wife and I co-op'd it and had a good time beating it. But I would have played it solo, it was decent enough. It's similar to Diablo in some ways, but I think it's a far better game (granted it came after Diablo so owes some lineage). - Well I put two hours into Seiken Densetsu 3 tonight. I'm playing the Trials of Mana version that SQEX released not long ago. For those that don't know, it's the original Super Famicom game, just with a modern official localization. And I'll say the localization has been really good thus far. Anyway I chose Riesz the Amazon Warrior as my main character. I figured her campaign would start in a jungle. No, her story started in a windy mountain fortress. Anyway at this point, I've already collected Angela and Charlotte. So my party is complete. The graphics and audio certainly live up to the hype I've read over the many years since the fan translation released. I am reserving judgement on the gameplay/design until I'm at least halfway through the game. I'll mention my only trepidation right now, is I'm wary of games with day/night cycles, as that can cause some confusion when it comes to triggering the next plot advancement point. Nonetheless I enjoyed the two hours I put in tonight, and look forward to more tomorrow night.

Ex Although I hate the game, I don't remember the night/day cycle ever being an issue.

I've kicked off some Landstalker, starting from around 1.5 hours in with my previous save. I remember everything I did quite well, actually, so I'm going to keep on booking it. I'm definitely getting some strong Zelda vibes, although with its own flavor, including the isometric view. Really, though, the controls are pretty darn janky. I've played isometric games that do it better than this - Light Crusader on Genesis comes to mind, but even before that, Snake Rattle 'n' Roll had this stuff figured out. Or even give me the option that Marble Madness NES does, mapping up on the d-pad to north movement, even though it's on a diagonal.
Still cool stuff, though, so I'm glad y'all both threw out the suggestion to make me narrow down my options.
