My childhood had some deprivations, but video games weren't one of them. I was lucky enough to grow up with a NES/SMS in the late '80s and then a GEN/SNES in the early '90s. (I had an N64 and PS1 in the late '90s as well.) I always had equal love for SEGA and Nintendo growing up. I do recall the ferocious 16-bit wars of the early '90s though. What a time to have been alive. However I missed a lot of console stuff during the 6th and 7th gens, and I'm still playing catch up there.

I meant to get some more gaming time in, but yesterday was pretty eventful (some health issues for dad, but he's fine now), and I'm also reading those books I snagged from Humble. Gonna knock another one out here soon, though, I promise!
EDIT: Aaaand I did. I played through Don Doko Don 2 for NES. It was a decent time, but not really up to Natsume's usual standard in my opinion. You hit stuff with a hammer that has short range, and can pick up the enemies and toss them. It feels a bit tough to aim them at times, though, and the platforming is fairly sluggish. That Natsume music style is definitely present, though. I'd give it a 6/10.
Most tracks are a little more upbeat, but these sound like they could be in Shatterhand or Shadow of the Ninja or something.

Nice tunes Sarge. So was that game a pure platformer, or did it have the Wario coin hoarding thing going on? When I looked up videos it looked cool, but the players were kind of randomly score/coin chasing or something.

I'm trying to win the minigame race in the second world of Sly Cooper. It's frustrating as hell.

Chema: I vaguely remember that, and I think I had trouble with it, too. Ex: I played a decent amount of the former back when it was translated (pretty sure Nesticle was still the emulator of choice then), and I've beaten the latter. The original game is pretty weird, honestly, but maybe I could handle it a bit better now.

Beat the minigame! Now it's time for more platforming!

Beat the minigame! Now it's time for more platforming! So this mini-game was not optional? Ergh. It bugs me when you're playing a game of a specific genre, but then your progress gets roadblocked by disingenuous game design. Like if you're playing a platformer, but then you have to beat a memory matching game to keep going, something like that. It's fine if it's optional.

That was mainly my serious issues with Sly 3. I don't recall Sly 1 having that many minigames and such, I guess they're still there as chema experienced, but I think most of that game was still simple platforming and exploring. Sly 3 roadblocks you with way more gimmicky minigames, bosses, multiple characters (forced), etc, got a little out of hand so I never finished that one.

Started playing Knuckles' Chaotix today, and finished a few levels. Took a few screenshots: This game's pretty batshit so far, but I've enjoyed what I've played up to this point.
