I think that romhacks.org was trying to, but there's apparently some swirling controversy the owner is trying to address.
EDIT: Interesting, didn't know it was Spike of CDRomance that ran that site. I can see why some folks were already reticent to use it, and it doesn't help that kandowontu apparently pulled some shenanigans that made them look bad on top of that.

During the years I spent on the RHDN forums, at one point I was a moderator. When I was a moderator, I got a taste of Nightcrawler's totalitarian peculiarities involving running that site. Eventually I elected to no longer be a moderator. That said, I very much appreciate Nightcrawler's contributions to retrogaming and the fan translation scene. Inevitably if RHDN is toast for the long term, some other repository will pop up to take its place. I just hope it's not Discord based. I've tried using Discord a few times and I find it inferior to classic forum design.

Yeah, Discord is trash for archival.
I didn't realize you were moderator at one point, but I remember those days. Good and bad times, haha. Glad we ran into each other over there, though!

I was only a moderator for a few months. And yes for the record, the RHDN forums are where Sarge and I first interacted. I'd wager that was around 2008 initially.

For me it depends on the day. Some days I get up and feel spry, sharp, and like I'm still 25. Some days I get up and feel achy, dull, and like I'm 65. I guess that's what middle age is all about, at age 45 anyway. We are firmly in "use it or lose it" territory for sure. But after 42 years of playing, I still love the video games, and will continue to play them long as I'm able to, so I'm using these thumbs alright.

I checked romhacking.net pretty much every day, even if only for a few seconds on most days when nothing released. It's going to be odd without it around. Had no idea about the background drama and don't really care either way. I just want to see the fan translation scene doing good.

Over the years, it's been a bit more spread out - I've noticed a lot of disc-based games not having patches submitted to RHDN. I assume it's something to do with patch size in a lot of cases. Absolute bummer someone else couldn't take it over. I feel you on the age - I agree, some times I feel just like I did in my twenties, sometimes I feel much older. I guess that's how aging works, as you get older you just have less and less good days. Ah well, I don't plan on giving up gaming, either, although I might have to slide away from ultra-difficult stuff. I'm not sure that's all that good for the heart at old age - Mike Tyson would probably eventually give me a heart attack!

I'll just mention that while RHDN is still online, now's definitely the time to download every patch one might be interested in. Just in case the site does go down.
