Yeah, I'm not mad at the guy, I just thought it was kind of clumsy. Submitting the news yourself is fine, but talking about yourself in the third person is a little goofy. As for the project itself, I haven't played it, but I tend to be more wary of translators who describe their work in terms of creative writing ever since Dynamic Designs came about. And let's not forget that DD named itself after Working Designs, like this guy named his group after Ted Woolsey... though I'd say Woolsey's a better inspiration, all in all.
Tomato wrote an article about the whole using-fan-translation-experience-on-a-resume thing on his Legends of Localization site. Basically, it depends on the employer. Some will absolutely consider it as a plus, while a few take a more conservative attitude and might dismiss the candidate out of hand because of it (because it's sort-of maybe illegal). I don't have a link handy, but it's worth checking out.

Good points.
I've read some of Tomato's articles, and they're good reads. I'll see if I can track it down.

The 1999 Super Famicom release Power Soukoban has been fan translated into English:
From what I've read, this appears to be an action-puzzler. Probably one of the last official releases on the SFC?

For a second there I thought it was a SNES RPG I'd never heard of. Don't know if I'll ever play this, but I like the characters on the cover.

The fervent half-dozen retro Gundam Famicom fans might like to know SD Gundam World Gachapon Senshi 4: New Type Story has been fan translated into English: www.romhacking.net/translations/4986/I don't know much about this game, but screenshots make it look like typical Gundam strategy stuff:

I will be quite surprised if it isn't terrible. That MrRichard999 guy turns out a bunch of stuff, though. Most of it I don't care about, but still!

I should mention that romhacking.net calls this a platformer but it's really an action RPG / platformer hybrid. There are towns and stores and so on, it's just that the dungeon areas are more platformy than usual, at least judging by videos.
