Yep, that's the one. There were a lot of cheap deaths and questionable hit boxes in that one, but it's still considered to be very good by a lot of folks.

Just in time for Game Gear month: "Madou Monogatari A: Doki Doki Vacation is a dungeon crawler by Compile, and a prequel to the original Madou Monogatari trilogy (which the better-known Puyo Puyo series was spun off from). It was initially released for the PC-98 home computer in a three-game bundle with sister games Madou Monogatari R and S, and later ported as a standalone title to the Sega Game Gear. As is typical for the series, this port bears only vague similarities to the original version; the story and dungeons are almost entirely new."www.romhacking.net/translations/5367/

Neat! That is fortuitous timing. Also, 1995 is getting pretty close to the end of the system's lifespan; maybe it will push the hardware a bit.

Well, visually it's a very cute game, but it's still a first-person dungeon crawler aimed at small children. I have no interest in any of the Madou games, but if I had to play one I'd go with the SNES game, since at least it's third person and it seems more like a full-fledged RPG.

It's a rare day when we see a Dreamcast translation... L.O.L: Lack Of Love is an evolutionary life simulation game developed by Love-de-Lic and published by ASCII Entertainment for the SEGA Dreamcast. This game was released only in Japan on November 2, 2000.

It seems like we've been getting some branching out from the translation community lately. Probably from new blood? That's always a good thing. Also, hope you're stoked for moar Madou Monogatari, 'cause the Genesis game has been translated. www.romhacking.net/translations/5388/This is apparently the last one they're doing. Should be interesting to see what they work on next!

Funny, I don't think I even knew there was a Genesis Madou, but it's true that I tend to ignore that whole series. That one is intriguing, though, and I might actually want to play it. It has some kind of real-time or semi-real-time battle system, apparently, doesn't seem very long, and it's really pretty. The portraits and battle sprites are so detailed, they look like they're from a PC-98 game. It's also the last official Japanese Mega Drive release (March 1996).

toei SargeAn interesting tidbit about Madou Monogatari I, is it was the final officially released Mega Drive game in Japan. It released in 1996. It seems like we've been getting some branching out from the translation community lately. Probably from new blood? That's always a good thing. I agree, there's a whole lot more platforms out there that could use English fan translations besides Famicom and Super Famicom.

The PS2 SRPG TearRing Saga Series: Berwick Saga has been fully translated into English:
This is basically playing Fire Emblem on PlayStation 2.

So both Tear Ring Saga games have translated now, by the same person apparently (well, the same person who did the revised translation of the first game).
