So both Tear Ring Saga games have translated now, by the same person apparently (well, the same person who did the revised translation of the first game). Yes that appears to be the case. Nice to see another PS2 translation, we only get those on blue moons.

Nice! I was actually looking at Super Famicom games on eBay, and these two were on my list of potential targets. Looks like it could be a good time.

Supposedly this is the most accurate English translation of the original DQ yet.

Yeah, I noticed that. It would be interesting from a historical standpoint, although I'm not a complete purist when it comes to translations. I think the work they did on Dragon Warrior was fantastic, and the author of this patch even acknowledged as much. But this would give an interesting window into what Japanese gamers actually played at the time, instead of our slightly improved version. Wonder if this one added battery saves, or it still has passwords like the original release?

Nooooooooo... It's another DD/WildBill "translation".
From the readme: "Let us add that anyone in the world is free to pursue this "not for profit" hobby. This means that any human who inhabits this planet has free rein to start in the same places we did and create stories and finished products that suit their own personal interests, motivations, and tastes."
I take this as a preemptive response to criticism concerning liberties taken with the script, etc. While on the surface this seems true...
"...start in the same places we did and create stories and finished products..."
Y'all ain't creating stories! Translating, localizing, romhacking, those are all valuable tasks, but you're not writing fiction!
At least I don't see WildBill referring to himself as "English Story Writer" in the readme as he did in the past. Maybe that means he didn't absurdly use yet another '90s Japanese RPG as a vehicle to echo Fox News propaganda this time? I swear I'm still worried to play this and find wizards ranting about Hillary Clinton or whatever.
---
Yeah, the version of DQ that was translated has the original funny-looking sprite and everything, so I'd say it's a valuable re-translation.

Nooooooooo... It's another DD/WildBill "translation". OH DEAR I retract my statement. RHDN has lied unto mine eyes. I don't follow you chief. My Aretha post has links to both game translations?

Ex How weird is it that I read your post twice and my eyes somehow skipped over the first link both times?

Ex How weird is it that I read your post twice and my eyes somehow skipped over the first link both times? I too suffer from selective speed reading.
