I looked up Queen's Blade and it turns out that it started as a series of "visual combat books", which are apparently a type of gamebooks. Sexy gamebooks. It's like they created the whole thing with Ex in mind.

I live my life like Master Roshi and Ryo Saeba.

If I can get those gamebooks in English, I'll buy them. If I can only get them in Japanese, I'll just download the artwork.

Remember that crappy mission in Blue Submarine No.6 that almost made me quit the game? The one where you have to navigate an underground labyrinth in a short span of time, with no map or timer or anything remotely useful to aid the player. So after you beat that mission, the game then immediately gives you another mission, which requires navigating that same maze all over again, with the same restrictions. Why? Just to waste your time, that's why. No, we're all out of chances here, thanks.
I deleted Blue Submarine No.6 off my hard drive, and erased its save files too. I'm very done with it. The game started out really interesting, but completely fell apart after the first 10 hours. Now at 16 hours in, I've had more than enough of it. It's no mystery to me why SEGA kept this one in Japan.
Ah well, now I can solely focus on Queen's Blade: Spiral Chaos going forward.
- Anybody else actively playing anything currently for this theme?

I sampled Bomberman Jetters for the GameCube. It's an adaptation of the Bomberman anime that aired in Japan. I didn't mind the weird characters and storyline. Not even the girly voice they gave Bomberman, who is called White Bomber in the anime. Heck, the graphics are cute and colorful; they hold up very well. But the gameplay in the adventure mode is just so slow I gave up in the first level. You roam around a level looking for things to blow and open new paths, defeat enemies and look for an exit. But it feels clunky to throw and kick bombs on a 3D space, and not fun at all. Also, the devs introduced a Pokemon-lite subsystem that is mandatory to complete levels. This game is not for me. I'll stick to 2D Bomberman.

I need to find something to play for the theme. Might poke around on the MiSTer and see what fits.

I'd like to find something action-y on the SNES, Genesis or PC Engine for the theme, but I'm not sure there's anything decent that I haven't played yet.

toei: What would you recommend on those platforms that you already have played? I wouldn't mind something along those lines myself.

toei : What would you recommend on those platforms that you already have played? I wouldn't mind something along those lines myself. Pretty much just the same stuff I already recommend around Page 2. The only one I don't think you've played is Cyborg 009 on the Sega-CD, which is quite decent despite some flaws. I have a feeling you'll like it less than me - you're from the NES school of platformers - but it's worth a shot. Not sure if you've played the Sailor Moon beat'-em-ups? They're alright. Also, since you have some interest in Culture Brain, you may want to check out Osu! Karate Bu (misspelled as Ossu! Karatebu on some sites) on the SNES. It's a pretty decent fighter, or it would be if it wasn't so choppy. One thing I found pretty cool about it is that the story mode has little training sections and whatnot where you learn new moves and work on the basics.
