Oh, I forgot about Cyborg 009, and I tossed it onto the MiSTer. Might be a good candidate. Haven't played the Sailor Moon brawlers, either.

Kishin Dōji Zenki FX: Vajra Fight (PC-FX, 1995)I know it is a short game, but this is one of my favorite anime to game adaptations so I wanted to mention it. I am trying to make a youtube video about it with gameplay footage (and also anime clips), but I do not know if it will be done by the end of the month or not. I will try my best though.

Pretty sure that's the best regarded PC-FX game right? - I beat two more missions in Queen's Blade: Spiral Chaos last night. But then I got stuck on a rather difficult one, where the enemy units massively increased in offensive power. I'm going to have to spend time just leveling my units to overcome that mission. See, unfortunately this game has something I don't like in SRPGs; "optional" grinding: This is a blank mission with fodder enemy units to rail against, slowly leveling up your units (and acquiring money). I call this sort of "training" in SRPGs " Get out balancing your game free!" missions, as it releases the developers from having to worry about properly balancing the game mission to mission. Just give the player the "option" to level up whenever they want, who cares if the game is balanced or not. Well, hopefully I want have to do this too often...

Pretty sure that's the best regarded PC-FX game right? It was one of the better regarded ones back in the day, no idea if people care much about it now (probably not haha, probably just blog sites saying "It is too short, who cares" haha). My PC-FX favorites are: Zenki, Zeroigar, Chip-Chan Kick, Battle Heat, Last Imperial Prince, and the Tengai Makyou PC-FX game (it plays similar to Battle Heat). It would be cool if someone translates Team Innocent one day (it used to be well liked in Gamefan magazine). And there are some other PC-FX games I am interested in one day as well. Oh, that reminds me, I also have a Cutey Honey PC-FX game (Cutey Honey FX) which would fit this theme. I haven't played it much yet.
For other recommendations, besides my typical choice (Astro Boy: The Omega Factor for GBA), there are some pretty good Hajime no Ippo games.
I do not know anything about Queen's Blade haha. The game looks pretty cool though.

I really enjoyed Chip-chan Kick! as well, nice burst of nostalgia remembering that one. Edit: I finally beat that mission in Spiral Chaos that was kicking my butt for so long. Took like a dozen tries probably, even with multiple "Free Battle" sessions. Turns out once you reach whatever level is considered high at the time, the enemies in Free Battle start only giving your units 1 XP per victory. Indicating that your units are as high level as allowed at present. So you can only grind Free Battles to a certain extent. Anyway, more screenshots for whoever likes this game's art:

I don't envision a lot of anime gaming myself, with everything else going on in life right now. But it's funny to know the source material for just about every series that's been brought up so far, so I can talk about the anime at least.
Actually that Sailor Moon beat em' up looks fun and I bet it's a short romp!

I don't envision a lot of anime gaming myself, with everything else going on in life right now. I had noticed you and Sarge seemed largely absent from this theme. Not that I mind all the straight up anime talk that's been happening though. Always up for discussing them dang Chinese cartoons. My main goal here is to beat Spiral Chaos this month. If I manage to finish said SRPG before month's end, I'll look into some short action games. Mystic Defender and Elemental Gearbolt for instance.

Yeah all this new computer/apartment stuff is occupying a lot of time this month. Backing up and moving files around is taking way longer than it did to actually build new hardware too.
This weekend I had another weird Saturday rotation too, had to go in 4 hours earlier to work with the first 3rd shift, then I get one day off before the new work week. (I was technically off Friday for my first weekend day). I only got like ~2 hours of sleep before that Saturday shift, when I tried to go bed way earlier. Slept good last night (morning? Wtf) but yeah things are still a blur. If none of that made sense, well yeah. Nuff said...

I've been trying out a few things (and distracted by the MiSTer setup), but nothing has stuck yet. I gave these two a go: The former is the non-translated SNES game (there's another Zenki game that does have a translation), which has segments where you platform that feel remarkably like a Mega Man game in some ways, but it's paired with a truly execrable cinematic fighter where you charge meters and dodge and... well, there's probably things I don't understand about it, but I hate it. The latter was "okay". It falls into the single-plane beat-'em-up/platformer category like X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, but isn't nearly as polished. I finally stopped at Stage 4 (of six) - I'd had my fill by then. I wouldn't mind jumping back in, but since I was playing without save states, I don't know if I really want to jump back into it. It's a game you have to play quite methodically. There's also this: But I believe that it didn't get an anime, only a manga.
