3D Sonic in general, will forever be a mistake.
Except for this gem I'll always defend.

Haha, teenage me probably would have thought that was cool. Part of me still thinks it could have been, but it would take a lot of care to make something like that actually work well... and Sega didn't even have what it took to make regular Sonic quite right in that era, so it's no surprise this one fell flat as well.

Another zombie-related spin-off I want to try to beat before the end of the month is Zombie Revenge. Many don't realize this, but it's a House of the Dead spin-off. Besides, it was on my list for Dreamcast month, too. Truth is, I've given it a couple tries in the past, and it never really felt right - the beat-'em-up aspect especially - but I'm hoping it clicks enough this time to see it through.
Oh, I'm gonna say two more things about Survivor. One, some of the music was good. Two, even though the game was developed by TOSE, the scenario was written by the same guy as RE2 (Noboru Sugimura, who also worked on several other REs), so I wasn't hallucinating when I said the story had the same vibe as the "real" REs.

You know, though, I did enjoy playing through Sonic Adventure 2. And it did review really well back in the day. Maybe Shadow was just the harbinger of Sonic failures to come.

I really need to find one more title for this theme. Anyone got any good recs for a relatively short game?

You probably played it already because it's a NES game, but just in case, you might like Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffitti. I liked Aleste Gaiden on the MSX2, too. It's a little basic, but it's nice.

Oh, that's a good one, as is Kirby Block Ball. Might give both of those some run. I especially always wanted to finish the latter.
