I don't have the PC version yet but I expect it will go on sale on Steam during Halloween.

PC: 60FPS Switch: 30FPS
True OG's like me back on the PS3 version would have been blessed with 30FPS.
Having just played the Remastered version on Steam, I think I only got invaded once actually. Still saw some notes on the ground though. I wager it's more of a ghost town on Switch with how terrible their online is, but in general maybe DS1's online is kind of dead thesedays. It's cool how they integrate these features into the lore and all. There's nothing quite like coming up to a ledge with a message that could either be real help or a troll. Classic Dark Souls. As someone that doesn't care for online games much, I think it's really cool how these games handle it and never ruins the immersion for me. Dark Souls 2's online was always pretty epic and most active with all the Covenant's.

If your PC has the power, go with PC. Higher resolution, better textures, better lighting, and faster framerate. Framerate matters from more than just a visual aspect with a game like Dark Souls.
Marketing calling the Switch version a "Remaster" is a total farce. The Switch version omits all resolution, graphical, and lighting improvements from the Remastered release on other platforms like PC, PS4, and One. It's a watered down port to get it to run on a comparatively low powered platform.

Guess we need to know if portability is a factor anayo ? That's the only thing going for the Switch in 99.9% cases I'd say. I could never see myself buying 3rd party releases on the Switch if they're available elsewhere, unless it's retro indie styled stuff that doesn't require much horsepower.
And going PC, you'll have access to all the other modern From Software games on there after.
Would be cool if you and Ex tackle this one together soon for the winter.

Thanks, I think you all have helped me make up my mind. I had picked up an inexpensive copy of Dark Souls for Switch and am I fond of handheld gaming. BUT, I have a nice PC (Ryzen 7 5800 + GTX 1070) and am fond of recording my playthroughs. So, I'm going to sell my Switch version and hold out for the Steam version to go on sale.

I voted PC, too. I feel like that's the sort of game that would feel better at 60 FPS, and you ain't lying that you've got a capable PC. I'm sure you could run it with all the bells and whistles.
That being said, Switch version is still better than the original releases on console, from what I understand. I have the 360 version, and I know it has areas where it completely bogs down, just from my reading about it.

Demon's Souls holds up better than Dark Souls on 360/PS3. Dark went for more fidelity/detail in a bigger seamless world, so it kind of sacrificed performance. Yeah, I'd never recommend those versions now. lol

I'm just talking about Dark Souls 360/PS3.
Demon's Souls PS3 > Demon's Souls PS5. Art direction, the heart and soul of the original supersedes the Bluepoint remake that looks like a really different game, for the worse. And radically different OST changes are often a huge red flag to me.
In Dark Souls' case, it's just a simple facelift and better performance with all the new releases. If someone avoids PC's and stopped at the 360/PS3, then sure they can play that version haha. Otherwise I don't see the point.
I was just suggesting that while comparing the PS3 versions, it's humorous that Demon's Souls despite being the first game, runs better than Dark Souls on the same hardware.
Remasters are always a weird case by case thing though I guess. SMT3's original PS2 release still seemed perfectly ideal to me compared to the new release. I'm even glad the original didn't have voice acting.
