Yeah Kaettekita Mario Bros. was a nice surprise, food advertisements and all.

Ah, so that's what that is. I wondered what that weird animation with Mario, Luigi, and some guy was when I booted the game lol

Yeah Mario and Luigi were shilling hard for those green tea flavored rice crackers.
The FDS has some weird Mario stuff. Like All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros. and that sweater knitting tutorial game.

In case anyone was wondering - and I sure was prior to today - if you are able to rewrite disks yourself, your rewritten disks WILL work on FDS units besides the one you rewrote them on. I had heard they'd only be read by the drive they were written on in various English language super old forums, but it's not true. I have a Twin Famicom and, now, two standalone FDS units (one of which will be going in my Twin Famicom to replace its broken drive - broken beyond repair by the way. I took it apart once and snapped off a piece of the PCB like a total idiot lol), and both Nintendo written disks and "Kazin" written ones work fine on both drives. Pumped! Now I can just use my Twin Famicom rather than having to attach a detached drive to the unit. Also Sarge if you want that extra RAM adapter, hit me up, we'll figure out shipping cost.

Excellent! Sure, I'll send you a PM and hope that I can extend it enough for my front-loader, or just give in and buy a Famicom, haha.

If you buy a Famicom - and yes I did just discover this yesterday - you're either going to have to A/V/RGB mod it, or whatever TV you use has to have channels 95 and/or 96. Neither of mine do! So my OG Famicom isn't useable at the moment lol

Ohhhhhh. Interesting. I have no idea if my TV can do those channels or not, so I'll have to investigate!

Apparently, Japanese channels 1 and 2 do not correspond to American channels 1 and 2, they're 95/96. I couldn't program my TVs that high (neither went above channel 70), so all I get is a messed up picture when I turn the Famicom on when my TV is set to channel 2 - so I at least know my Famicom *works*. Just can't use it! Going to look into RGB modding it eventually, if the things ever come back in stock.

I've got three CRTs I can test, although they're all roughly the same age (early 2000s), so who knows if it'll work?

Yeah who knows. My CRT is from 2006 so it's a bit of a late model (has an S-video input though, so I love it lol).
