Is anyone else excited to get this? I'm hoping for a quick hack to come out so I can take some of the CD games I'm not interested in off and put stuff I want to play on there, but even if that doesn't happen soon, I plan on at least playing some Phantasy Star II. Mine's supposed to get here Monday, but DHL usually gets stuff to me quickly for whatever reason so I'm hoping for tomorrow.
Got a 2.4Ghz wireless controller ready to go and everything. Can't wait!

This one sounds pretty awesome with the inclusion of some CD stuff. And hacking these does sound pretty fun.
Won't be getting my nephew this one, that I know at least... pains me how badly my family doesn't take care of electronics. (he only cares about the Switch anyways)

Mine says Wednesday, maybe DHL will move quicker than that, though. And yep, looking forward to it, and hopefully a hack as well. I wonder if it's sporting the exact same hardware as the prior version? There's a good chance it will be, because I don't remember it (or the SNES Classic, virtually the same hardware) struggling with Sega CD emulation. Probably just more flash storage. Hopefully there's a big chunk of it left!

Personally I'm not excited about it, as I see this for what it is; a SEGA sanctioned emulation box. I already own other emulation boxes that do the same thing for a fraction of the price. That said, I don't blame enthusiasts for being interested in it. Aesthetically it's very nice, and it's always good to see a company respect its retro catalog in an official manner.

Yeah, even though I know that's exactly what it is, and that I'll use it for a week or two then shelve it for a long time, I just want to support these companies releasing old stuff (and not Switch style subscription nonsense, I mean old games that I can purchase and own for as long as the device freaking works, but that's a whole other topic). I'm also looking forward to playing the games they've tweaked, like Phantasy Star II with speedup options or whatever it was.

Was M2 helping out on this project too?

That's exactly how I feel about these devices, too. They're a great way to get legitimate copies of games that would cost an arm and a leg otherwise. While I certainly don't have many compunctions emulating, I do feel at least a little better when I have a game in a legit form somewhere.
Honest to goodness, though, I really love the SNES Classic. It's easily my favorite of the mini systems, and it boasts impressive input lag performance and pretty solid compatibility. I still very much enjoy using it on occasion.

I for one don't feel more saintlike by purchasing sanctioned ROMs. But I do understand the appeal of these "mini" consoles' aesthetics. They are cute little miniature versions of the real thing, from a visual standpoint at least.

Haha it's not about me feeling saintlike, it's mainly supporting M2. I really like their work and want to do what I can to ensure more of it.
