It's good. Very linear and easy but in a way that's more refreshing than insulting. I'd compare it to Exile in that regard. It has the same sort of world map where you only have a choice between one town and one dungeon and the game just keeps scooting you along.

Yeah it's solid and has that Ys-like quick pace, story-wise.

Surprised I had never heard of this Konami game Usas before. Looks to be some platformer with that classic archaeology vibe. Looks like one I'll have to check out eventually.

bonesnapdeezA while back when I was exploring the MSX/MSX2 libraries, I came across that one and played it. I didn't finish Usas, but it's well worth trying out. I liked Konami's other MSX action-platformer games a bit better though, specifically The Maze of Galious and King's Valley II: The Seal of El Giza. Those both got European releases so you can play them in English. In this same "adventurer exploring old ruins" kind of vein, Konami also released Almana no Kiseki 1987 on Famicom disk system. It has a full English translation. I think Sarge enjoyed that one IIRC.

I downloaded the MSX Knightmare games just yesterday! I have played The Maze of Galious in the past though, as it was ported to the Famicom. I like it well enough. Almana no Kiseki is one I've goofed off with via emulation; will do a full playthrough (hopefully) once I get a legit copy.
Never heard of the King's Valley games, probably because they're not on Project EGG which is where I'm discovering most of this stuff. They look cool though.

Never heard of the King's Valley games The second entry was cited as the primary influence (by the developers GR3 Project/Nigoro) for the La-Mulana series: www.nintendo.com/store/products/la-mulana-1-and-2-bundle-switch/Konami also made a decent shmup on MSX called Knightmare (1986). It's one of those "you're a person not a ship" shmups that toei is fond of.

Yeah The Maze of Galious is actually Knightmare II. All three games have a completely different style. The third is text-heavy and more of an action-adventure.

I think Knightmare may have originated that little sub-genre. I did try look into it a few years ago, but I don't remember why I didn't play through it. There was a game in the same vein based on Tezuka's Phoenix also for the MSX2 I believe that I decided to skip. I think you needed to discover secrets by shooting at hidden things to progress or something like that, it sounded like a pain.

Yeah, Almana no Kiseki is an interesting one. The physics are weird, but you get the hang of it eventually. It's solid Konami stuff, not their absolute best but very unique.
