Yeah, glad someone else played The Last Remnant. It's a flawed game, but there's a lot of interesting stuff going on, too. I think it's worth it just for that battle system and the music. I actually dropped it for quite some time, though, when I hit the brick wall that is the "Gates of Hell" battle at the end of the first disc. Brutal stuff. Having your units get confused with no way to heal them is a recipe for disaster. I had to retreat and get skills to recover from that. Turns out my Unions were just too strong, haha! I got used to the bad framerate (which persists in many battles even with a HDD install), but it certainly didn't make some of the timed button presses any easier.

For one of Square Enix's big budget B-tier games, it's one of the best for sure.
