I'm not giving any 100 hours game a look It's a commitment for sure. I've beaten a handful of 100+ hour RPGs, and I'd say they were worth it.* But that was over the course of months of playing, chipping away 1-3 hours at a time, a few days a week. The tough part for me is finding an RPG that is so captivating it'll keep me engaged that long.
There seem to be a lot of gamers with no real life responsibilities Indeed that does seem to be the case. I get that gist when people put 1000+ hours into pointless (to me) battle royale games. Or they beat a 70 hour RPG in 2 weeks. I mean, I love video games just as much the next dork, but one must have life balance and other ambitions. And plebs harping on a game because it's not long enough, is what got us all the bloat in modern gaming since the 7th gen. Quality not quantity I say.

I will say that games like Diablo are often built around repeat runs, though, so I kinda get it to a degree. But the first run should still be fantastic.
I've only put down a couple of 100-ish hour RPGs myself. Dragon Warrior VII (PSX) was close, as was Xenoblade, Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, and... that may be it. I've put 200-250 into certain games, but that's with replays (Chrono Trigger, Tecmo Super Bowl, probably Final Fantasy VI).

100 hours in Skyrim would be pushing it. I've gone back to it a few times and generally am satisfied at around 20-30 hours worth. And if you brute force the main story, you can probably beat it around that or even quicker. Hear it from me who can get paralyzed about commitment to beating games, Skyrim is one of those cases where I don't really care and just like to jump in for some fun again every once and awhile. Clearly toei won't be playing Skyrim either way now, so oh well. lol
I actually think this has a very meditative effect. Every once in a blue moon I'll lay down to this with headphones and then when it's over, feel pretty healed up after.
I already predict not liking the next one much since it probably won't be this iconic Nordic setting.

I put over 100 hours in Dragon Warrior VII, because I did the bonus dungeon, and DQ bonus dungeons traditionally require a lot of grinding to access and beat. Metal Slime hunting and all that. I think I was at 120 hours, even. But that was way back when, on a real Playstation, when I was constantly plowing through RPGs one after the other and hardly doing anything else. I can't see that happening now. Can't say I find Skyrim appealing, at a glance. It's entirely possible that I it would click eventually. Maybe I could get into WRPGs if I put in enough time and effort. But I'm not looking to get into any other time-consuming genre.

-Excluding- replays for now and off the top of my head, here's games I put over 100 hours into in the last few years...
- Fallout 4 - Nioh 2
- Dragon Quest 11 - Tears of the Kingdom - Xenoblade 3 - Elden Ring
For trophy/achievement hunting I put some beefy hours into all the Souls and Resident Evil games most recently. Over 100 for Dark Souls 2 and 3 getting all those trophies in a few back to back subsequent runs (you can do replays like speedruns, I remember "clearing" a Dark Souls 2 run in about 4 hours for one of the runs).
70 remains to be my typical threshold. Even most recently with SM4 this year, I could have continued to do more and wrap up all the side stuff or something, but I was ready to move on after 69 hours.
30 is about my cut off if I'm not completely loving it, but it was long and a good time up to that point.

30 is about my cut off if I'm not completely loving it Pretty good threshold, I concur. Maybe I could get into WRPGs if I put in enough time and effort. I still think you'd (possibly) like this one: store.steampowered.com/app/7110/Jade_Empire_Special_Edition/HLTB says takes about 17 hours to beat on average (main story). Has a really cool combat system. - Also, remember how I said one can always find an exception to a genre normally not played? So as to not be a hypocrite for MMOs, I would have played this if I could have at the time:

Yeah, I generally can, too. I have played World of Warcraft. Didn't love it.

Ex Hmm, yeah, that looks pretty cool, and I don't know of any proper Chinese martial arts-themed RPG. Kingdom of Paradise looked like it might be, but it sucked in the end.

I don't know of any proper Chinese martial arts-themed RPG. Jade Empire fits. I put some time in it (didn't finish, intend to someday), but I recall enjoying the combat. That was the Xbox version, I imagine the Special Edition PC version is better. In the realm of that theme I do recommend this to you specifically:
This is not a normal MK game, it's a beat 'em up with story and RPG aspects: I beat this two player long ago, but it was good enough I would have done so solo. Give it a shot man.
