Well, I was about to rip GameStop a new one, but I only half need to. Thought the Uniracers cart was busted. Nope. Turns out that when the SRAM gets corrupted, it can cause the game to not boot properly into the play modes. Wiping it fixed the issue. That's reassuring. It makes me anxious when my retro games don't work properly!

I've had a few goof up, but it's rare. Ex: Technically, if I kept the game, I'd be getting the better part of the deal. It's still a $60 game, and this bad boy is sealed, too. Someone is probably sitting in Hattiesburg right now fuming that they got a copy of Victor Vran, haha.

Got my copies of RE2/RE3 in. Was hoping for case and manual, but nope. Just a sleeve and the discs, which have clearly been resurfaced. Still, I put them in the compy and did a surface scan, and they check out, and the opening of both games (and with both RE2 discs) played with no hiccups, so I think they'll be good to go.

Now I hope those runs aren't years away.

Oh, they probably will be. Don't sleep on Resident Evil 2 man, it's a great game for real.

Not sure if it's just me, but it felt like the turn speed was faster than that of REmake.

REmake has some weight to it for sure. RE2 lacks the quick 180 turn around and no auto aim, but otherwise yeah I think it holds up extremely well (control wise and everything in general) as long as static camera angles don't ruin it for someone. You can easily kill everything in this one too without much worry of ammo or reviving enemies.

Given the shifting camera angles, I can understand why tank controls would work pretty decently. DMC has some issues with its controls on camera shifts that they try to alleviate, but it doesn't always work.

Yeah, it would be interesting to know exactly when in development Capcom decided "DMC shouldn't be RE4", heh. To be fair, there's plenty of games from the 5th/6th gen that still have camera problems. I frankly believe that RE's static system is a part of what makes those games age gracefully to me personally. But yeah, it's a bit wonky with DMC1 and even more painful with stuff like boss fights and melee combat in Onimusha 1-2. Still love those first two, but they make me rage sometimes.
