Man, I'm super disappointed today. I got that Nintendo Power Vol. 1 in today, and it looked great... until I looked closer (ironically for taking pics to show y'all) and saw that it's missing a page. Someone ripped out pages 75-76 on Contra. Dang it! I hate the return process. Hopefully the seller will be nice about it. I definitely tried to be!

Well, they've offered a full refund. The only other route would be a partial, but it would have to be $20-25 to cover me obtaining another beat-up copy that didn't have the map or something. I'm leaning toward full refund at this point, but we'll see what they come back with.

I had a peculiar obsession with the website "Dave's Saturn Page" as a teenager in the early to mid 2000's. I felt like it let me vicariously experience being a Saturn fan while the Saturn was still on store shelves. The site is down now. Lately I've been re-reading wayback machine archives. I just wanted to share some interesting quotes from fan reviews of Saturn games.
In 1996 it was obvious the Saturn wasn't doing well but the resignation of 1997 and 1998 hadn't set in yet. By 1998 fans writing in with their reviews had more or less given up and new Sega's only hope was a next gen machine. But in 1996 you'd still see quotes like this:
Today Resident Evil fans seem to cherish and laugh at gems like "master of unlocking" and "Jill sandwich". But back then players took issue with it:
This 1998 comment about America blowing up Saddam Hussein is eerie to read in 2019. I guess for reasons similar to 90's media featuring the world trade center towers:
In the mid to late 90's gamers still wrote about Tomb Raider with awestruck reverence:

It's selfish of me to say this but I wish this got released. Even though it wouldn't have helped the Saturn's bad sales in the West I really like the form factor. The presenter of the video seemed to indicate there's a working prototype out there? Any idea if someone has uploaded a more extensive video showing this thing working, like the recent vids of the Nintendo Playstation?

Hey, Ex, you recommended an iPega tablet controller a while back. Which model was that? I'm thinking about ordering one, because I have to admit, a Switch-style experience for my emulation would be awfully nice.

The presenter of the video seemed to indicate there's a working prototype out there? Haven't had any luck. But I did find a cool video that SEGA of America made, showcasing the Dreamcast's capabilities back when it was still called Katana (not finalized hardware at that time): a Switch-style experience for my emulation would be awfully nice. The model is the IPEGA PG-9023 (also called PG-9023S). It looks like this: It is awfully nice, so nice that I bought two of them: I'll confirm the PG-9023 has a great d-pad, and excellent analog sticks. I was very happy with it. Only issue for someone might be it's rather large. So it's not something you can just shove in your pocket while subway hopping or getting a root canal, or whatever people do when they shove a Switch in their pocket.
IPEGA makes a variant of this format called the IPEGA PG-9083S. It looks like this: Never tried the 9083 version, but some people like its rounded bevel edges better. I can't confirm anything about the 9083 except it exists. I bought the 9023 because it has big hulking hand grips, which provides the kind of bulk my hands need for comfort while playing long periods of time. (Say a SNES JRPG for two or three hours.) Also the 9023 can fit any smartphone all the way up to beasts of tablet sizes.
